The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction (NO RR) is a novel green method for ammonia synthesis. The development of outstanding NO RR performance is based on reasonable catalyst. Metal oxides have garnered significant attention due to their exceptional electrical conductivity and catalytic properties. Doping serves as an effective strategy for enhancing catalyst performance due to its ability to change the electron cloud distribution and energy levels. In this study, we develop a heterojunction catalyst Fe doped copper oxide nanosheet and cobalt tetroxide nanowire growing on carbon cloth simultaneously (Fe-CuO@CoO/CC) via hydrothermal method. The well-designed Fe-CuO@CoO/CC has excellent NH yield (470.9 μmol h cm) and Faraday efficiency (FE: 84.4 %) at -1.2 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (vs. RHE). The heterostructure increases the specific surface area of the catalyst, and the possibility of contact between the catalyst and NO ions, enhances the catalytic efficiency. In addition, the catalyst has excellent stability and can stably carry out the electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NO RR), which provides a way for further research on the high-efficiency reduction of nitrate.

The construction of coupled electrolysis systems utilizing renewable energy sources for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction and sulfion oxidation reactions (NORR and SOR), is considered a promising approach for environmental remediation, ammonia production, and sulfur recovery. Here, a simple chemical dealloying method is reported to fabricate a hierarchical porous multi-metallic spinel MFeO (M═Ni, Co, Fe, Mn) dual-functional electrocatalysts consisting of Mn-doped porous NiFeO/CoFeO heterostructure networks and Ni/Co/Mn co-doped FeO nanosheet networks. The excellent NORR with high NH Faradaic efficiency of 95.

Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NORR) to harmless nitrogen (N) presents a viable approach for purifying NO-contaminated wastewater, yet most current electrocatalysts predominantly produce ammonium/ammonia (NH/NH) due to challenges in facilitating N-N coupling. This study focuses on identifying metal catalysts that preferentially generate N and elucidating the mechanistic origins of their high selectivity. Our evaluation of 16 commercially available metals reveals that only Pb, Sn, and In demonstrated substantial N selectivity (79.

Chinese milk vetch (CMV) is widely recognized as the leading leguminous green manure utilized in the rice-green manure rotation system throughout southern China. While bacteria that form symbiotic relationships with CMV are responsible for fixing a significant portion of nitrogen (N) within agroecosystems. diazotrophic organisms play an essential role in the N cycle and enhance the pool of N readily accessible to plants.

Current screening methods for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) face challenges such as low patient compliance and high costs. This study aimed to develop a model based on oral microbiome data for identifying ESCC. By analyzing 249 oral flora samples, we identified microbial markers associated with ESCC and constructed random forest classifiers that distinguished patients with ESCC from controls, achieving an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.

Catalytic reduction of nitrate to dinitrogen (N) by noble metals stands as a feasible and promising manner to address the biological and environmental issues associated with nitrate pollution; however, nitrate reduction under single noble-metal catalyzation remains substantially stuck because of the low adsorption enthalpy of noble metal toward nitrate. Tailoring the formation (crystal structure and particle size) of catalytical metal particles, coupled with a more direct electron donating pattern, provides a potential solution for the main challenge in reduction efficiency and selectivity. In this study, we assembled a Pd-based nanocomposite (Pda@EC) by subtly regulating the embedded Pd nanoparticles inside a porous substrate self-sufficient in electron donator (i.
