Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to assess how many patients with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) met the new 2023 ACR/EULAR classification criteria and to explore reasons for those who did not qualify.
  • - A review of 51 patient records revealed that only 12 (23.5%) met the classification criteria, while 33 (64.7%) did not, with various reasons cited including failure to meet laboratory or clinical standards.
  • - Findings suggest APS diagnosis and classification are complex, highlighting a need for further evaluation and management strategies for the small number of patients who still fit the new criteria.

Mechanical Viability and Functionality Assessment of a New Sutureless Endoluminal Microvascular Device: A Preliminary In Vivo Rabbit Study.

J Med Device

March 2025

Patient Experience Program, Consorci Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer, Barcelona 08036, Spain.

Our group has developed a new nitinol endoluminal self-expandable device for microvascular anastomosis. It attaches to each vessel ending with opposite directed microspikes and reaches complete expansion at body temperature, using the nitinol shape memory capacity. The main purpose of this first in vivo trial is to evaluate the mechanical viability of the device and its immediate and early functionality.

Despite its longstanding use in canines, prior research on imipramine's PK in dogs is lacking. This study aimed to determine the PK of imipramine in dogs in regards to feeding conditions, and to ascertain whether desipramine (active metabolite) is formed or not.

Background: Heparin may be administered during mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusions (AIS-LVO), with the aim of enhancing reperfusion and improving patient outcomes. The uncertain balance between risks and benefits of administering heparin during MT prompted us to perform this systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Scopus to find studies that report the safety or efficacy of administering heparin during MT for AIS-LVO.
