As the population ages and grows, health services must evolve in ways to offer versatile patient care, whilst improving patient outcomes and maintaining long-term economic viability. A facility assisting in the provision of such healthcare is the hybrid operating room (HOR): a specialised suite allowing simultaneous radiological and surgical diagnostics and therapeutics in a single episode of care. Versatile and customizable, the HOR is utilised by a broad range of subspecialties in elective and emergency settings, including (but not limited to) vascular surgery, trauma surgery and interventional radiology. Though the benefits of hybrid techniques to patient care are well known, the actual steps in operationalising the HOR can be challenging if not considered and coordinated appropriately. The intention of this narrative review is to highlight issues and suggest solutions in the design and commissioning of an HOR. Key areas in need of specific attention include stakeholder involvement, economic feasibility, suite location, workflow planning, hybrid equipment choice, and team organisation.

The conventional carbonization process for synthesizing hard carbons (HCs) requires high-temperature furnace operations exceeding 1000 °C, leading to excessive energy consumption and lengthy processing times, which necessitates the exploration of more efficient synthesis methods. This study demonstrates the rapid preparation of HC anodes using intense pulsed light (IPL)-assisted photothermal carbonization without the prolonged and complex operations typical of traditional carbonization methods. A composite film of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is carbonized at high temperatures in less than 1 min.

Background: Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-rearranged renal cell carcinoma (ALK-RCC) is a rare molecularly defined tumor entity included in the fifth edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Tumors. It is characterized by rearrangement of the ALK gene with various fusion partner genes, which most commonly results in oncogenic fusion proteins leading to ALK activation.
Case Presentation: A 30-year-old Chinese man underwent partial nephrectomy for a left renal tumor measuring 5 cm in diameter.

Cognitive Radio (CR) technology enables wireless devices to learn about their surrounding spectrum environment through sensing capabilities, thereby facilitating efficient spectrum utilization without interfering with the normal operation of licensed users. This study aims to enhance spectrum sensing in multi-user cooperative cognitive radio systems by leveraging a hybrid model that combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. A novel multi-user cooperative spectrum sensing model is developed, utilizing CNN's local feature extraction capability and LSTM's advantage in handling sequential data to optimize sensing accuracy and efficiency.

Developing a DNA autocatalysis-oriented cascade circuit (AOCC) via reciprocal navigation of two enzyme-free hug-amplifiers might be desirable for constructing a rapid, efficient, and sensitive assay-to-treat platform. In response to a specific trigger (), seven functional DNA hairpins were designed to execute three-branched assembly (TBA) and three isotropic hybridization chain reaction (3HCR) events for operating the AOCC. This was because three new inducers were reconstructed in TBA arms to initiate 3HCR (TBA-to-3HCR) and periodic repeats were resultantly reassembled in the tandem nicks of polymeric nanowires to rapidly activate TBA in the opposite direction (3HCR-to-TBA) without steric hindrance, thereby cooperatively manipulating sustainable AOCC progress for exponential hug-amplification (1:3).
