Integr Environ Assess Manag

January 2025

DEBtox Research, Stevensweert, The Netherlands.

Environmental risk assessment of chemicals (ERA) relies on single-species laboratory testing to establish the toxic properties of a compound. However, ERA is not concerned with toxicity under laboratory conditions: it needs to assess the impacts of the compound in the real world. Data-driven statistical analyses (e.

Unlabelled: Strain-level variation among host-associated bacteria often determines host range and the extent to which colonization is beneficial, benign, or pathogenic. is a beneficial symbiont of the light organs of fish and squid with known strain-specific differences that impact host specificity, colonization efficiency, and interbacterial competition. Here, we describe how the conserved global regulator, H-NS, has a strain-specific impact on a critical colonization behavior: biofilm formation.

A general-purpose method of emphasizing abnormal lesions in chest radiographs, named EGGPALE (Extrapolative, Generative and General-Purpose Abnormal Lesion Emphasizer), is presented. The proposed EGGPALE method is composed of a flow-based generative model and L-infinity-distance-based extrapolation in a latent space. The flow-based model is trained using only normal chest radiographs, and an invertible mapping function from the image space to the latent space is determined.

The dynamical nature of gait increases fall risk for older adults as the Center of Mass (COM) is constantly displaced inside and outside the Base of Support (BOS). Foot placement and leg joint moments are the primary mechanisms controlling dynamic balance. The Margin of Stability (MOS) quantifies the distance between the COM dynamical state and the BOS.
