A convenient method was developed that allows for the synthesis of highly crystalline and porous imine-linked covalent organic frameworks (COFs) in hours. The use of an apolar solvent in combination with a precise amount of water and acetic acid was crucial to obtain materials of optimal quality. Fifteen different COFs could be produced under the same reaction conditions, using a green solvent mixture of n-butanol, acetic acid and water at 70 °C for 16 hours with stirring. The crystallinity of the COFs produced in this manner is similar or better than that obtained by traditional solvothermal synthesis. The method could be easily scaled to synthesize over ten grams of COF in one batch. Optical microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy and in situ Raman spectroscopy gave insight in the role of the solvent on the aggregation of COF nanosheets and the resulting crystallinity, porosity and robustness of the material.

Nowadays, benzimidazole and its derivatives are widely assembled into multifunctional materials with various properties such as mechanochromism, photochromism, thermochromism and electrochromism. Herein, two novel zinc(II) coordination compounds, [Zn(L)Br]·2HO (1) and [Zn(L)Cl]·2HO (2) (L = tetra(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)ethene), have been constructed one-pot facile synthesis from bis(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)methane (L) and zinc(II) salts. The ligand L with a CC double bond was formed by C-C coupling of two sp-C atoms of L in solvothermal synthesis, which provides a new strategy to generate the conjugation system conveniently.

LiFeMnPO (0 < < 1) has a high operating voltage range and theoretical energy density, but its actual capacity decreased due to its low electronic conductivity. To overcome this problem, we successfully prepared LiFeMnPO/C (LFMP/C) with a uniform carbon coating by a one-step solvothermal method using bamboo shavings as the carbon source. The results showed that heating at a reaction temperature of 180 °C for 18 h was the optimal synthesis condition to obtain LFMP/C.

The ongoing challenge of water pollution necessitates innovative approaches to remove organic contaminants from wastewater. In this work, new two-dimensional S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts BiO/CdS and MoS/BiO/CdS that are intended for the effective photocatalytic destruction of 4-nitrophenol, a dangerous organic pollutant, are synthesized and characterized. Utilizing a solvothermal method, successfully generated these ternary nanocomposites, which were characterized through various techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), high resolution transmission electronmicroscopy (HRTEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Telle (BET) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS).

This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the photocatalytic efficiency of bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (Bi-MOFs) and their derivatives, specifically Ag/Bi-MOF and NH /Ag/Bi-MOF, in the degradation of tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under visible light irradiation. Bi-MOFs are promising photocatalysts due to their large surface area, tunable porosity, and unique electronic properties that are favorable for visible light absorption. In this study, Bi-MOFs were synthesized using a solvothermal method, with the incorporation of silver (Ag) and ammonium (NH ) ions to enhance their photocatalytic performance.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has gained significant attention as a promising nonmetallic semiconductor photocatalyst due to its photochemical stability, favorable electronic properties, and efficient light absorption. Nevertheless, its practical applications are hindered by limitations such as low specific surface area, rapid recombination of photogenerated charge carriers, poor electrical conductivity, and restricted photo-response ranges. This review explores recent advancements in the synthesis, modification and application of g-C3N4 and its nanocomposites with a focus on addressing these challenges.
