The focus on implementation of systematic review (SR) principles in chemical risk assessments (CRAs) is growing as it has the potential to advance the rigour and transparency of the CRAs. However, the SR and CRA communities use their own specific terminologies. Understanding the meaning of core SR and CRA terms and where they overlap is critical for application of SR methods and principles in CRAs. Moreover, it will increase the possibility for cross-sectorial collaboration, avoid misunderstandings, and improve communication among risk assessors, researchers, and policy makers. We present a process for the cross-mapping of core CRA terms and core SR terms. Core terms for study appraisal, evidence synthesis and integration used in the SR and CRA communities will be included. The outcome will be an overview of how core SR terms map onto core CRA terms and vice versa, and a description of the relationship and conceptual overlap between the terms. The cross-mapping is divided in three phases, where in the first phase the core SR and CRA terms will be identified. In the second phase, existing SR and CRA definitions will be mapped. In the third phase, descriptions of the relationship and conceptual overlap between the terms will be derived. The third phase will include weekly one-hour online meetings for SR and CRA experts.

While humic substances (HS) are recognized for their role in enhancing plant growth under abiotic stress by modulating hormonal and redox metabolisms, a key question remains: how do HS influence the microbiota associated with plants? This study hypothesizes that the effects of HS extend beyond plant physiology, impacting the plant-associated bacterial community. To explore this, we investigated the combined and individual impacts of HS and osmotic stress on tomato plant physiology and root endophytic communities. Tomatoes were grown within a sterile hydroponic system, which allowed the experiment to focus on seed-transmitted endophytic bacteria.

Background: The Abdominal Compartment Society (WSACS) established consensus definitions and recommendations for the management of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) in 2006, and they were last updated in 2013. The WSACS conducted an international survey between 2022 and 2023 to seek the agreement of healthcare practitioners (HCPs) worldwide on current and new candidate statements that may be used for future guidelines.
Methods: A self-administered, online cross-sectional survey was conducted under the auspices of the WSACS to assess the level of agreement among HCPs over current and new candidate statements.

We performed a computational study of positron attachment to hydrated amino acids, namely glycine, alanine, and proline in the zwitterionic form. We combined the sequential quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (s-QM/MM) method with various levels of any particle molecular orbital (APMO) calculations. Consistent with previous studies, our calculations indicate the formation of energetically stable states for the isolated and microsolvated amino acids, in which the positron localizes around the carboxylate group.

Protocadherin-15 is a core protein component of inner-ear hair-cell tip links pulling on transduction channels essential for hearing and balance. Protocadherin-15 defects can result in non-syndromic deafness or Usher syndrome type 1F (USH1F) with hearing loss, balance deficits, and progressive blindness. Three rationally engineered shortened versions of protocadherin-15 (mini-PCDH15s) amenable for gene therapy have been used to rescue function in USH1F mouse models.
