Distal radius fractures are extremely common. Plastic surgery trainees and practicing surgeons who encounter these patients should be familiar with the various treatment options. Although the volar locking plate has revolutionized treatment of these fractures, we believe it is important to highlight the anatomy, diagnosis, and contemporary management of specific fracture patterns that may require techniques beyond volar plating.
