Photothermal catalysis effectively increases catalytic activity by using the photothermal effect of metal nanomaterials; however, the combination of strong light absorption and high catalytic performance remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate hexagonal ~5-nanometer-thick palladium antimony (chemical formula as PdSb) nanosheets (NSs) that exhibit strong light absorption within full spectral and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effects in the visible region. Such LSPR features lead to strong photothermal effects, and PdSb NSs aqueous dispersion enables enhanced photothermal methane (CH) conversion to formaldehyde (HCHO) under full-spectrum light irradiation at 1.7 watts per square centimeter, leading to selectivity of ~98.7%, productivity of ~665 millimoles per gram of catalyst, ~700 times higher than that of Pd NSs. Mechanism investigations suggest that different radicals were generated on PdSb (·OH) and Pd NSs (·O), where PdSb NSs displays stronger adsorption strength to CH and facilitates CH oxidation to HCHO. Besides, the strong light absorption ability of PdSb NSs enables photothermal therapy for breast cancer.

Lattice thermal conductivity ( ) is of great importance in basic sciences and in energy conversion applications. However, low- crystalline materials have only been obtained from heavy elements, which typically exhibit poor stability and possible toxicity. Thus, low- materials composed of light elements should be explored.

Introduction: Lung cancer is the first cause of cancer death in the world, due to a delayed diagnosis and the absence of efficacy therapies. KRAS mutation occurs in 25% of all lung cancers and the concomitant mutations in LKB1 determine aggressive subtypes of these tumors. The improvement of therapeutical options for KRASG12C mutations has increased the possibility of treating these tumors, but resistance to these therapies has emerged.

The influence of long-term climatic changes such as glacial cycles on the history of living organisms has been a subject of research for decades, but the detailed population dynamics during the environmental fluctuations and their effects on genetic diversity and genetic load are not well understood on a genome-wide scale. The Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata) is a unique primate adapted to the cold environments of the Japanese archipelago. Despite of the past intensive research for the Japanese macaque population genetics, the genetic background of Japanese macaques at the whole-genome level has been limited to a few individuals, and the comprehensive demographic history and genetic differentiation of Japanese macaques have been underexplored.

With the potential to surpass the Shockley-Queisser (S-Q) limitation for solar energy conversion, the bulk photovoltaic (BPV) effect, which is induced by the broken inversion symmetry of the lattice, presents prospects for future light-harvesting technologies. However, the development of BPV is largely limited by the low solar spectrum conversion efficiency of existing noncentrosymmetric materials with wide band gaps. This study reports that the strain-induced reduction of inversion symmetry can enhance the second-order nonlinear susceptibility (χ) of SnPSe crystals by an order of magnitude, which contributes to an extremely high value of 1.

Covalent labeling of RNA in living cells poses many challenges. Here we describe a structure-guided approach to engineer covalent RNA aptamer-ligand complexes. The key is to modify the cognate ligand with an electrophilic handle that allows it to react with a guanine at the RNA binding site.
