High-entropy oxides (HEOs) exhibit distinctive catalytic properties owing to their diverse elemental compositions, garnering considerable attention across various applications. However, the preparation of HEO nanoparticles with different spatial structures remains challenging due to their inherent structural instability. Herein, ultrasmall high-entropy oxide nanoparticles (less than 5 nm) with different spatial structures are synthesized on carbon supports via the rapid thermal shock treatment. The low-symmetry HEO, BiSbInCdSn-O, demonstrates exceptional performance for electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reaction (eCORR), including a lower overpotential, high Faraday efficiency across a wide electrochemical range (-0.3 to -1.6 V), and sustained stability for over100 h. In the membrane electrode assembly electrolyzer, BiSbInCdSn-O achieves a current density of 350 mA cm while maintaining good stability for 24 h. Both experimental observations and theoretical calculations reveal that the electron donor-acceptor interactions between bismuth and indium sites in BiSbInCdSn-O enable the electron delocalization to facilitate the efficient adsorption of CO and hydrogenation reactions. Thus, the energy barrier of the rate-determining step is reduced to enhance the electrocatalytic activity and stability. This study elucidates that the spatial structure of metal sites in HEOs is able to regulate CO adsorption status for eCORR, paving the way for the rational design of efficient HEO catalysts.

Background: Neurological disorders are at epidemic levels in the world today. Various proteins are being targeted for the development of novel molecular therapeutics; however, no small-molecule inhibitors have been discovered. Recent studies suggest that there are few molecules in clinical trials for various secretase (α, β, and γ), caspase, and calpain inhibitors.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) affects over 55 million people worldwide and is characterized by abnormal deposition of amyloid-β and tau in the brain causing neuronal damage and disrupting transmission within brain circuits. Episodic memory loss, executive deficits, and depression are common symptoms arising from altered function in spatially distinct brain circuits that greatly contribute to disability. Transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) can target these circuits and has shown promise to relieve specific symptoms.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are advantageous to assess vegetation and terrain changes at a high spatial resolution, advancing our understanding of shifts in ecosystem states and processes. The extension of land that we sought to observe belongs to the footprint of an Eddy Covariance System (around 7.5 ha), installed in a secondary ecological succession of the tropical dry forest (27.

The influence of landscape structure on epidemic invasion of agricultural crops is often underestimated in the construction and analysis of epidemiological models. Computer simulations of individual-based models (IBMs) are widely used to characterize disease spread under different management scenarios but can be slow in exploring large numbers of different landscape configurations. Here, we address the problem of finding an analytical measure of the impact of the spatial structure of a crop landscape on the invasion and spread of plant pathogens.
