Isolated cuboid dislocation without fracture is a rare injury, and there is a lack of literature describing its treatment. Studies report the use of closed or open reduction, with Kirschner wire fixation in the treatment of these injuries. This case report presents the clinical condition of a 24-year-old male patient who arrived at the emergency department with an isolated dislocation of the right foot cuboid bone without the presence of a fracture, after suffering trauma during a football game. Open reduction was performed in the surgical center with stabilization and fixation using a Kirschner wires. The patient showed an excellent response to the treatment, with no loss of the foot's range of motion.

The purification of large biotherapeutic modalities such as viral coat proteins, plasmid DNA, mRNA, therapeutic viruses and vesicles is more challenging than the purification of smaller and more established products such as monoclonal antibodies. This is because these entities, due to their large size, have limited access to binding sites present in the pores of conventional resin-based chromatographic media. However, this transport limitation could potentially be exploited for their purification using size exclusion chromatography (SEC).

Creating micromotors (MMs) that will have the highest possible velocities has become one of the main focuses in the field of autonomous microdevices research. The importance of velocity stems from various autonomous microdevices applications, ranging from faster drug delivery to the eradication of various bacterial biofilms using only mechanical movement. To investigate how different shapes affect the velocity of Zn/SU-8 micromotors in acid solution, we fabricated micromotors with various geometries (Zn/SU-8/Cylindrical, Zn/SU-8/Rectangular cuboid, Zn/SU-8/Triangular prism, Zn/SU-8/Pentagonal prism and Zn/SU-8/Pentagrammic prism MMs).

Müller-Weiss is a disease characterized by deformation, fragmentation and necrosis of the navicular, which presents with midfoot varus and long-standing pain, mostly in females. It is related to delayed ossification due to physical or nutritional stress, associated with abnormal force distribution. There are still few studies on this condition and there is no consensus in the literature on its classification and treatment.

A recommended sampling strategy for genetic identification of Second World War victims in Slovenia.

Forensic Sci Int

January 2025

Institute of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Korytkova 2, Ljubljana 1000, Slovenia. Electronic address:

Skeletonized human remains from Second World War mass graves in Slovenia are a major challenge in genetic identification, and bones with a high DNA yield must be selected for successful identification. The goal of this study was to construct skeletal sampling strategy recommendations through comparison of the most appropriate groups of skeletal elements. Altogether, 566 bones and teeth from the same mass grave were compared, half analyzed in this study and half in previous studies performed by our group.

An unconventional strategy for purifying recombinant SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

Department of Chemical Engineering, McMaster University, Hamilton, ON L8S 4L7, Canada. Electronic address:

The soluble domain of the trimeric SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is a promising candidate for a COVID-19 vaccine. Purification of this protein from mammalian cell culture supernatant using conventional resin-based chromatography is challenging as its large size (∼550 kDa) restricts its access and mobility within the pores of the resin particles. This reduces binding capacity and process robustness very significantly as extremely low flow rates need to be used during purification.
