Introduction: The study aimed to characterize the genome of a Colombian strain of to infer bacterial virulence factors.
Materials And Methods: Under the approach of a quantitative research, an isolate of Colombian origin of was sequenced using new generation 454 GS FLX Titanium sequencers. Subsequently, bioinformatics programs were used for the physical description of the genome (number of genes, size), open reading frame prediction, prediction of proteins and their orthologs in other pathogenic species, of intermediate pathogenicity and non-pathogenic, cellular localization of proteins.
Results: The assembly of the spirochete genome was achieved serogroup Autumnalis serovar Aliceand the description of the genetic, structural and functional characteristics of its genes. It is concluded that the core- genome of the isolate is composed of 1747 proteins, which are common to all strains available in GenBank. It was determined that it has a total of 4,138 proteins, 141 of which are unique to its genome. The possible role of the virulence factors found in the Colombian isolate was identified and described.
Conclusions: The study contributes to the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms induced by .

Bacterial resistance, a global public health concern prioritized by the World Health Organization, is particularly alarming in Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Urgently addressing this, the search for new antibiotics has turned to plant essential oils. Our study focused essential oils derived from Colombian plants Croton killipianus, Croton smithianus, Croton leptostachyus, Croton hondensis, and Croton gossypiifolius.

The decline in populations in Colombian reefs has been mainly attributed to diseases outbreaks. The population size structure and prevalence of white pox and white band disease were evaluated in six localities of the Colombian Caribbean. Here, we aimed to isolate enteric bacteria and Vibrios from healthy and diseased coral mucus to relate its presence to the health status of .

BACKGROUND Amyloidosis is a group of diseases characterized by the pathological deposition of misfolded proteins in various organs, including the heart, leading to structural and functional alterations. The primary types of cardiac amyloidosis are light chain amyloidosis and transthyretin amyloidosis. Early diagnosis is critical for effective management.

: For the development of new treatments, the acute phase of Chagas disease (CD) in experimental models acts as a filter to screen out potentially effective interventions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate ZnO nanocrystals and Ag-ZnO/AgO nanocomposites containing different proportions of silver (ZnO:5Ag, ZnO:9Ag and ZnO:11Ag) in an experimental model of the acute phase of CD. : C57Bl/6 mice were infected with 1000 forms of the Colombian strain of .

Oxidative stress promotes T. cruzi growth and development of chronic Chagas heart dysfunction. However, the literature contains gaps that must be fulfilled, largely due to variations in parasite DTU sources, cell types, mouse strains, and tools to manipulate redox status.
