A rapid photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was constructed for nitrite detection in food based on the one-step chemical etching strategy of BiOCl/ZnCdS (BOC/ZCS) nanocomposites by nitrite. BOC/ZCS heterojunction was prepared by a simple coprecipitation method, and it was found that BOC/ZCS showed significant photoelectrochemical (PEC) activity. The results of this study confirmed that the decrease in the photocurrent of the sensor was linked to the etching of ZCS by nitrite under acidic conditions. Under optimized conditions, the BOC/ZCS-based PEC sensor showed good analytical properties for detecting nitrite, with linear ranges of 1-100 μM and 100-600 μM. The detection limit of the sensor was 0.41 μM (S/N = 3). Excellent repeatability, reproducibility, low background noise, and immunity to interference were demonstrated using the proposed system, and satisfactory results were achieved for the nitrite assay using real samples. These results demonstrate a new method for nitrite detection developed using the proposed PEC sensor.

A self-powered dual-electrode aptasensor was developed for the detection of tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The composite BiVO/ZnInS, which is capable of forming a Z-scheme heterojunction, was chosen as the photoanode, and the AuNP/CuBiO complex was chosen as the photocathode in photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection. The experiments showed that the constructed self-powered dual-electrode system had a good photoelectric response to white light, and the photocurrent signal of the photocathode was significantly enhanced under the influence of the photoanode.

CYFRA21-1 is a tumor marker for lung cancer, and its rapid and accurate detection can provide evidence for the early diagnosis of lung cancer. In this work, Bi-Fe turnbull blue analogues (Bi-Fe-TBA) were synthesized by the self-templating method. BiO-SFNs was prepared by simple oxidation in air using Bi-Fe-TBA as a template.

Dimethoate (DIM) is one of the most extensively applied organophosphorus pesticides (OPs), which is used to boost farm productivity due to its high insecticidal efficacy. However, the excessive use of DIM can result in the extensive contamination of soil, groundwater and food. Monitoring of DIM in environmental and food samples is crucial in view of its potential health risks and environmental hazards from excessive residues.

Background: The excessive application of enrofloxacin (ENR) results in residues contaminating both food and the environment. Consequently, developing robust analytical methods for the selective detection of ENR is crucial. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor has emerged as a highly sensitive analytical technique that has seen rapid development in recent years.

A novel dual-mode microfluidic sensing platform integrating photoelectrochemical (PEC) and fluorescence (FL) sensors was developed for the sensitive monitoring of heart fatty acid binding protein (h-FABP). First, BiVO/AgInS (BVAIS) composites with excellent photoelectric activity were synthesized as sensing matrices. The BVAIS heterojunction with a well-matched internal energy level structure provided a stable photocurrent.
