Posaconazole enteric-coated tablet and oral suspension are two oral drugs in the treatment of invasive fungal infections (IFIs). This study compared the effectiveness and safety between posaconazole enteric-coated tablet and oral suspension, and provided a real world basis for the clinical practice. A retrospective cohort study was performed on IFIs patients treated with posaconazole enteric-coated tablet or oral suspension.

Background: Posaconazole maintains broad antifungal activity and is employed for prevention and treatment of invasive fungal infections in oncology patients. Older formulations required therapeutic drug monitoring, and specific plasma drug levels have been recommended. This study evaluated factors associated with subtherapeutic concentrations with the newer delayed-release tablet formulation.

Objective: Albumins are protein molecules that account for 50% of total plasma protein. They are imperative in maintaining intravascular colloidal oncotic pressure, act as key scavenger molecules for oxygen free radicals, and perform a major role in transporting numerous substances and in wound healing. Hypoalbuminemia has been reported as the consequence of decreased intake, increased loss, decreased production, and redistribution.

Purpose: Bezlotoxumab is approved for prevention of recurrent Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile infection (CDI) in adults receiving antibacterial treatment for CDI who are at high risk for recurrent CDI. Previous studies have shown that although serum albumin levels are an important predictor for bezlotoxumab exposure, this has no clinically meaningful impact on efficacy. This pharmacokinetic modeling study assessed whether hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients, at increased risk of CDI and exhibiting decreased albumin levels within the first month posttransplant, are at risk of clinically relevant reductions in bezlotoxumab exposure.
