is a facultative phototrophic bacterium that performs aerobic respiration when oxygen is available. Only when oxygen is present at low concentrations or absent are pigment-protein complexes formed, and anoxygenic photosynthesis generates ATP. The regulation of photosynthesis genes in response to oxygen and light has been investigated for decades, with a focus on the regulation of transcription. However, many studies have also revealed the importance of regulated mRNA processing. This study analyzes the phenotypes of wild type and mutant strains and compares global RNA-seq datasets to elucidate the impact of ribonucleases and the small non-coding RNA StsR on photosynthesis gene expression in . Most importantly, the results demonstrate that, in particular, the role of ribonuclease E in photosynthesis gene expression is strongly dependent on growth phase.

Culm sheaths are capable of photosynthesis and are an important class of non-leaf organs in bamboo plants. The source-sink interaction mechanism has been found to play an important role in the interaction between culm sheaths and internodes in Bambusa multiplex. Research on the regulatory mechanisms of culm sheath senescence is important for the study of internode growth, but reports in this regard are limited.

Today, weed control in agricultural systems is largely based on the use of synthetic pesticides. However, the use of these compounds is increasingly controversial among farmers and consumers, who point to their harmful properties for human health and the environment. In this context, the development of eco-friendly agricultural approaches and practices is becoming essential, and allelopathy represents a promising solution.

In the context of climate changing environments, microalgae can be excellent organisms to understand molecular mechanisms that activate survival strategies under stress. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii signalling mutants are extremely useful to decipher which strategies photosynthetic organisms use to cope with changeable environments. The mutant vip1-1 has an altered profile of pyroinositol polyphosphates (PP-InsPs), which are signalling molecules present in all eukaryotes and have been connected to P signalling in other organisms including plants, but their implications in other nutrient signalling are still under evaluation.

Antarctica has one of the most sensitive ecosystems to the negative effects of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) on its biodiversity. This is because of the lower temperatures and the persistence of POPs that promote their accumulation or even biomagnification. However, the impact of POPs on vascular plants is unknown.

Phosphorus (P) deficiency is a critical factor limiting crop productivity, primarily due to its detrimental effects on photosynthesis and dry matter accumulation. In this study, we investigate the role of the rice gene OsPHT2;1 in mediating chloroplast P homeostasis and its subsequent impact on photosynthetic function under low P conditions. Stomatal conductance is typically positively correlated with net photosynthetic rates; however, P deficiency disrupts this relationship, leading to reduced stomatal opening and diminished photosynthetic efficiency.
