: To evaluate the effect of maternal parity on the association between mid-trimester cervical length and preterm birth to elucidate the potential intricacies of this relationship. : A retrospective cohort study using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) data. The study population included pregnant women with a singleton fetus and a short mid-trimester cervical length, recorded in the EMR system at a large health maintenance organization. Women were categorized by parity in the current pregnancy, and a statistical analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between parity and premature delivery. : Data were collected from 1144 records of cervical length measurements of 738 pregnancies obtained from the HMO database. The study population consisted of 259 nulliparous women (35.1%), 451 multiparous women (61.1%), and 28 grand multiparous women (3.8%). The results from the multivariate analysis of the primary outcome showed that nulliparity was significantly associated with an increased risk of premature delivery, with a risk of 1.557 for nulliparous women compared to parous women. : In this study, a statistically significant association was found between nulliparity and preterm birth among women with a short mid-trimester cervical length. Nulliparous women were found to have a higher risk of preterm birth in the current pregnancy compared to parous women. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and to develop targeted interventions to reduce the risk of premature birth in this population. These findings highlight the need to consider nulliparity as a potential risk factor in the management of pregnancies with a shortened cervix.

Purpose: Cochlear implants (CI) are the most successful bioprosthesis in medicine probably due to the tonotopic anatomy of the auditory pathway and of course the brain plasticity. Correct placement of the CI arrays, respecting the inner ear anatomy are therefore important. The ideal trajectory to insert a cochlear implant array is defined by an entrance through the round window membrane and continues as long as possible parallel to the basal turn of the cochlea.

Background: Length unstable femoral shaft fractures in school-aged children usually demand surgical treatment, but the optimal choice remains controversial, especially in overweight adolescents. This study aimed to compare the clinical results of locking compression plates (LCP) and elastic stable intramedullary nails (ESIN) combined with temporary external fixator (TEF) in school-aged children weighing over 50 kg.
Methods: Between January 2010 and January 2018, children over 50 kg with length unstable femoral shaft fracture treated with ESIN & EF in the authors' institute were included in this study.

Background: Headache disorders are prevalent often leading to disability. The rectus capitus posterior major muscle (RCPMaj) may contribute to headache symptoms via nociceptive convergence and myodural bridging.
Objectives: To establish guidelines for needle length and needle angle to mitigate risks during dry needling RCPMaj.

Objective: Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of hydrogel-coated coils (HGCs) to achieve the composite endpoint of decreased recanalization rates and greater safety. Herein, the authors aimed to assess the true ability of second-generation HGCs to prevent recanalization.
Methods: This randomized controlled study, the HYBRID (Hydrocoil Versus Bare Platinum Coil in Recanalization Imaging Data) trial, comparing HGCs with bare platinum coils (BPCs), was conducted in 43 Japanese institutions.

Objective: To investigate the effects of Astragalus polysaccharide (APS) on skeletal muscle structure and function in D-galactose (D-gal)-induced C57BL/6J mice.
Methods: Eighteen male C57BL/6J mice of specific pathogen-free (SPF) grade, aged 8 weeks, were selected and divided into three groups: a control group (0.9% saline gavage for 16 weeks), a D-gal group (subcutaneous injection of 200 mg/kg D-galactose in the upper neck region, once daily for 8 weeks), and a D-gal + APS group (subcutaneous injection of 200 mg/kg D-galactose, once daily for 8 weeks, with concurrent administration of 100 mg/kg APS by gavage for 8 weeks).
