In a Correspondence on our previous work, "Visible light-switchable chalcone flavylium photochromic systems in aqueous media" published in this journal in 2023, Pina et al. comment on certain aspects of our work, raising skepticism and questions about the switching of the chalcone-flavylium systems. We appreciate their comments and acknowledge the remarkable contribution of Pina and co-workers in this field.

Does the visual system adapt to number? For more than fifteen years, most have assumed that the answer is an unambiguous "yes". Against this prevailing orthodoxy, we recently took a critical look at the phenomenon, questioning its existence on both empirical and theoretical grounds, and providing an alternative explanation for extant results (the old news hypothesis). Commentaries on the target article offer diverse perspectives on integrative experiment design. Our responses engage three themes: (1) Disputes of our characterization of the problem, (2) skepticism toward our proposed solution, and (3) endorsement of the solution, with accompanying discussions of its implementation in existing work and its potential for other domains. Collectively, the commentaries enhance our confidence in the promise and viability of integrative experiment design, while highlighting important considerations about how it is used.

To manage the COVID-19 outbreak, the WHO recommends adult and child vaccination. Vaccine skepticism has been a major worldwide health concern for decades, and the situation is worsening. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate parental willingness to vaccinate their children (aged 5 to 11 years) against COVID-19 and to describe its relationship with attitude, barriers, facilitators, and sources of knowledge regarding the vaccine.
