Diptera and Lepidoptera species have the highest levels of insecticide resistance, and the mechanism of drug resistance has been studied in detoxification metabolism genes such as P450, GST, EST, and ABC. Since are resistant to a variety of chemicals, the pattern and mechanism of resistance in have been investigated from a variety of aspects such as detoxification metabolism genes, detoxification enzymes, intestinal symbiotic bacteria, and synergists in the world. In this study, 51 species and 149 detoxification metabolism genes were annotated in the Suppression Subtractive Hybridization (SSH) library, and 12 candidate genes related to beta-cypermethrin resistance were screened and quantitatively expressed in this library. Two genes were found to be upregulated in the egg stage, three genes in the larval stage, one gene in the pupal stage, and five genes in the adult stage, and four genes were found to be upregulated in the midgut and the malacca ducts in the midgut. The expression of , , , and genes was upregulated in resistant strains, with the most obvious upregulation occurring in the midgut and the Malpighian tubules. These results provide new insights into the study of pesticide resistance in quarantine insects.

Background: (Skuse) is an invasive and widespread mosquito species that can transmit dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, and Zika viruses. Its control heavily relies on the use of insecticides. However, the efficacy of the insecticide-based intervention is threatened by the increasing development of resistance to available insecticides.

Optimizing enzyme thermostability is essential for advancements in protein science and industrial applications. Currently, (semi-)rational design and random mutagenesis methods can accurately identify single-point mutations that enhance enzyme thermostability. However, complex epistatic interactions often arise when multiple mutation sites are combined, leading to the complete inactivation of combinatorial mutants.

Gossypol removal is crucial for the resourceful utilization of cottonseed meals in the food and feed industries. Herein, we investigated the comprehensive detoxification mechanism of a gossypol-tolerant strain of (WK331) newly isolated from the rumen. Biodegradation assays showed that WK331 removes over 80% of free gossypol, of which 50% was biodegraded and 30% was converted into bound gossypol.

Lignocellulosic biomass (LCB) is expected to play a critical role in achieving the goal of biomass-to-bioenergy conversion because of its wide distribution and low price. Biomass fermentation is a promising method for the sustainable generation of biohydrogen (bioH) from the renewable feedstock. Due to the inherent resistant structure of biomass, LCB needs to be pretreated to improve its digestibility and utilization.
