Background: Pulmonary mucormycosis is most common in patients with hematologic malignancies and transplant recipients. This article describes a case of mucormycosis in the lungs secondary to a hematologic disorder with suspected lung cancer.
Methods: Rhizopus (Rhizopus microspores) was detected by blood NGS and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid NGS, and pulmonary mucormycosis was confirmed.
Results: Secondary to hematologic disease, pulmonary pneumonia, mycosis, and symptoms improved after comprehensive treatment.
Conclusions: Clinical data and radiologic knowledge are combined to diagnose invasive pulmonary mycoses; early empirical medicine is very important.

Circular RNA (circRNA) can sponge miRNA participate in the tumorigenesis and progression of various cancers. We substantiate for the first time that the fusion circular RNA (F-circRNA) F-circEA1 is involved in driving the echinoderm microtubule associated-protein like 4-anaplastic lymphoma kinase variant 1-positive (EML4-ALK1) lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) progression and the expression of the parental gene EML4-ALK1, molecular mechanisms of F-circEA1 in the EML4-ALK1 LUAD remain unknown. Bioinformatics analysis showed that only miR-4673 can bind to F-circEA1 and bind to EML4-ALK1 3'-UTR to regulate the expression of EML4-ALK1.

Patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) can be treated with a double switch operation (DSO) to restore the normal anatomical connection of the left ventricle (LV) to the systemic circulation and the right ventricle (RV) to the pulmonary circulation. The subpulmonary LV progressively deconditions over time due to its connection to the low pressure pulmonary circulation and needs to be retrained using a surgical pulmonary artery band (PAB) for 6-12 months prior to the DSO. The subsequent clinical follow-up, consisting of invasive cardiac pressure and non-invasive imaging data, evaluates LV preparedness for the DSO.

Exhaled breath offers an interesting matrix of low invasive sampling of potentially relevant information about the organism's metabolism in the form of volatile organic compounds (VOC). The VOC can be exhaled by the ructus (Islam et al., 2023) or passed the blood-lung barrier for expiration through the lungs.

Background: Driving pressure is thought to determine the effect of low tidal ventilation on survival in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. The leading cause of mortality in these patients is non-pulmonary multiorgan dysfunction, which is believed to worsen due to the biological response to mechanical ventilation (biotrauma). Therefore, we aimed to analyze the association between driving pressure, biotrauma, and non-pulmonary multiorgan dysfunction.

This report presents an extremely rare case of fungal mycotic aneurysm due to Magnusiomyces capitatus in a 51-year-old immunocompromised woman. The diagnosis was based on multiple CT-scans and various samples positive for the pathogen identified by sequencing of the Internal Transcribed Spacer region. Long-term treatment using caspofungin for previous candidemia would have promoted the dissemination of this intrinsically echinocandin-resistant fungus, from colonization sites in the lung and rectal areas.
