Background: Microorganisms associated with sea sponges have proven to be good natural product resources that are biologically active and pharmaceutically important.
Objective: This research aimed to identify actinomycetes related to a sponge from Bar-ranglompo Island Makassar and the antibacterial compounds.
Methods: Identification of actinomycetes was based on molecular characterization of sequence gen16S rRNA. The antibacterial compound was separated using vacuum liquid chromatog-raphy and preparative Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). The structure determination was done based on spectroscopy 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 2D NMR, and mass spectra.
Results: Molecular characterization showed that actinomycetes strain BLP 20 had the closest relationship with Streptomyces parvulus and Uncultured Streptomyces sp. with a similarity value of 83%. The results obtained from the characterization of antibacterial compounds based on spectroscopic data indicate that these compounds lead to Actinomycin D.
Conclusion: Characterization and identification of Strain 20 / BLP by molecular phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA sequences revealed the closest relationship with Uncultured Streptomy-ces sp and S. parvulus with a similarity value of 83 %, which indicated a new species. The structure of the active compound isolated from actinomycetes strain 20 / BLP leads to Actino-mycin D.

Using chromosomal barcoding, we observed that >97% of the Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn) population turns over in the lung within 2 days post-inoculation in a murine model. This marked collapse of diversity and bacterial turnover was associated with acute inflammation (severe pneumococcal pneumonia), high bacterial numbers in the lungs, bacteremia, and mortality. Intra-strain competition mediated by the blp locus, which expresses bacteriocins in a quorum-sensing-dependent manner, was required for each of these effects.

Heterozygous variants in and lead to distinct neurodevelopmental disorders caused by haploinsufficient levels of post-synaptic SYNGAP1 and pre-synaptic STXBP1, which are critical for normal synaptic function. While several gene-targeted therapeutic approaches have proven efficacious , these often target regions of the human gene that are not conserved in rodents, hindering the pre-clinical development of these compounds and their transition to the clinic. To overcome this limitation, here we generate and characterize and humanized mouse models in which we replaced the mouse and gene, respectively, with the human counterpart, including regulatory and non-coding regions.

strain B59671 naturally produces thermophilin 110, a broad-spectrum bacteriocin encoded within the bacteriocin-like peptide () gene cluster, and thermophilin 13 from a separate chromosomal locus.
