The alpha complex is a fundamental data structure from computational geometry, which encodes the topological type of a union of balls for , including a weighted version that allows for varying radii. It consists of the collection of "simplices" , which correspond to nonempty -fold intersections of cells in a radius-restricted version of the Voronoi diagram . Existing algorithms for computing the alpha complex require that the points reside in low dimension because they begin by computing the entire Delaunay complex, which rapidly becomes intractable, even when the alpha complex is of a reasonable size. This paper presents a method for computing the alpha complex without computing the full Delaunay triangulation by applying Lagrangian duality, specifically an algorithm based on dual quadratic programming that seeks to rule simplices out rather than ruling them in.

In Australia, pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium) cultivation provides a significant portion of the global supply of natural insecticidal pyrethrins. However, crown and root rots, along with stunted plant growth and plant loss during winter, are significant issues affecting certain sites. Several isolates of the Fusarium oxysporum species complex (FOSC) have been identified as causal agents of crown and root rot in pyrethrum, highlighting these as key pathogens contributing to this decline.

Objective: Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a highly complex disease with high morbidity and mortality. Studying the molecular mechanism of MIRI and discovering new targets are crucial for the future treatment of MIRI.
Methods: We constructed the MIRI rat model and hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury cardiomyocytes model.

Synthetic nucleic acids, also defined as xenobiotic nucleic acids (XNAs), opened an avenue to address the limitations of nucleic acid therapeutics and the development of alternative carriers for genetic information in biotechnological applications. Two related XNA systems of high interest are the α-l-threose nucleic acid (TNA) and (3'-2') phosphonomethyl threosyl nucleic acid (tPhoNA), where TNAs show potential in antisense applications, whereas tPhoNAs are investigated for their predisposition toward orthogonal genetic systems. We present predictions on helical models of TNA and tPhoNA chemistry in homoduplexes and in complex with native ribose chemistries.

SUPPRESSOR OF MAX2 1 (SMAX1) and SMAX1-LIKE (SMXL) proteins comprise a family of plant growth regulators that includes downstream targets of the karrikin (KAR)/KAI2 ligand (KL) and strigolactone (SL) signaling pathways. Following the perception of KAR/KL or SL signals by α/β hydrolases, some types of SMXL proteins are polyubiquitinated by an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex containing the F-box protein MORE AXILLARY GROWTH2 (MAX2)/DWARF3 (D3), and proteolyzed. Because SMXL proteins interact with TOPLESS (TPL) and TPL-related (TPR) transcriptional corepressors, SMXL degradation initiates changes in gene expression.

Tissue regeneration after a wound occurs through three main overlapping and interrelated stages namely inflammatory, proliferative, and remodelling phases, respectively. The inflammatory phase is key for successful tissue reconstruction and triggers the proliferative phase. The macrophages in the non-healing wounds remain in the inflammatory loop, but their phenotypes can be changed interactions with nanofibre-based scaffolds mimicking the organisation of the native structural support of healthy tissues.
