We report access to the core of biologically relevant aromatic abietane diterpenoids and to the formal synthesis of podocarpic and lambertic acids or γ-lactones via an electrochemical bicyclization process initiated by the ferrocene-mediated anodic oxidation of a malonate via single electron-transfer. This approach permits escaping the use of excess of oxidants such as Mn(OAc) and the associated complicated purification.

Seven-membered carbocycles, which are frequently associated with relevant biological activities, can be found in nature and drugs in ever-increasing numbers. Radical cascade addition of 1,-enynes-like substrates is one of the most important and efficient strategies for the synthesis of this valuable skeleton with structural diversity and complexity. Herein, we describe an electrooxidative radical-mediated synthesis of dibenzocycloheptanes from -ethynyl-substituted biaryls and tertiary C(sp)-H containing reactants.

This study describes the synthesis of graphene oxide-modified magnetite (rGO/FeO) and its use as an electrochemical sensor for the quantitative detection of hemoglobin (Hb). rGO is characterized by a 2θ peak at 10.03° in its X-ray diffraction, 1353 and 1586 cm vibrations in Raman spectroscopy, while scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive spectroscopy of rGO and rGO/FeO revealed the presence of microplate structures in both materials and high presence of iron in rGO/FeO with 50 wt %.

The ability to recognize mRNA with high efficiency in cells would greatly facilitate the elucidation of mRNA-mediated cellular cascades and their disease associations. However, most traditional electrochemical strategies targeting nucleotides are always confronted with cumbersome interface operation and washing procedures, as well as the high cost of labeling and the strict reaction conditions of tool enzymes, limiting their potential applications. To address these issues, herein we reported, for the first time, a simple label-free, isothermal, non-enzymatic, and ultrasensitive homogeneous electrochemical biosensor based on autonomous proximity-dependent surface hybridization chain reaction (HCR), for sensitive signal amplification and highly specific detection of target survivin mRNA with a detection limit of 3 fM.

An unprecedented radical difluoromethylarylation reaction of alkynes has been developed by discovering a new difluoromethylation reagent, CFHSONHNHBoc. This air-stable and solid reagent can be prepared in one step from commercially available reagents CFHSOCl and NHNHBoc. The CFH radical, generated through ferrocene-mediated electrochemical oxidation, participates in an unexplored alkyne addition reaction followed by a challenging 7-membered ring-forming homolytic aromatic substitution step to afford fluorinated dibenzazepines.
