Objective: To reveal statistical patterns in the localization of alterations in organs and tissues of the neck in hanging depending on the noose location.

Material And Methods: In this study 222 forensic examination reports of corpses of those who died from hanging, conducted in the Bureau of Forensic Medical Expertise of Moscow Oblast for 2019, were investigated. Standard methods of mathematical statistics, including Mann-Whitney U Test and the Fisher's Exact Test, were used for calculations. Sex and age characteristics of hanging cases were given.

Results: Retrospective statistical analysis has shown that the pattern of injuries revealed in organs and tissues of the neck both depends (in cases of Amussat's sign) and does not depend (in cases of hemorrhages in the legs of sternocleidomastoid muscle, fractures of the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage, Martin's sign) on the noose position.

Conclusion: The obtained results can be used to develop measures aimed at improving the quality of forensic examination of hanging cases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how biophysical factors, specifically cell size and adhesion capacity, affect the distribution and effectiveness of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for tissue repair.
  • Researchers utilized surface modification techniques and a hanging drop method to alter the size and adhesion of MSCs, then tracked their biodistribution in living rodents using PET imaging.
  • Results indicate that while adhesion capacity modifications didn't significantly impact lung entrapment, reducing MSC size enhanced their ability to migrate to other organs, highlighting that cell size is a key factor in MSC localization.

Hanging drop cultures provide a favorable environment for the gentle, gel-free formation of highly uniform three-dimensional cell cultures often used in drug screening applications. Initial cell numbers can be limited, as with primary cells provided by minimally invasive biopsies. Therefore, it can be beneficial to divide cells into miniaturized arrays of hanging drops to supply a larger number of samples.

Background: Glioblastoma (GB) is a highly malignant type of brain cancer with a poor prognosis. Therapeutic strategies for GB are still limited. Rosmarinic acid (RA), a polyphenolic compound, is a promising experimental anticancer agent, but its specific protein targets for GB remain unclear.
