Multipurpose applications of a newly developed homobimetallic Ru(II) complex, Ru-NDI[PF], which incorporates 1,10-phenanthroline and triazole-pyridine ligands and linked via a (-CH-) spacer to the reputed anion-π interacting NDI system, are described. Solution-state studies of the bimetallic complex, including EPR, PL, UV-vis, and NMR experiments, reveal two sequential one-electron transfers to the NDI unit, generating NDI⋅ and NDI in the presence of F selectively. This process inhibits the primary electron transfer from Ru(II) to the NDI unit, thereby allowing the MLCT-based emission of the complex to be recovered, resulting in a corresponding ten-fold increase in luminescence intensity. DFT and TD-DFT computational studies further elucidate the experimentally observed absorption spectra of the complex. Secondly, CT-DNA binding studies with the complex are performed using various spectroscopic analyses such as UV-vis, PL, and CD. Comparative DNA binding studies employing EB and molecular docking reveal that the binding with CT-DNA occurs through both intercalative and groove binding modalities. Thirdly, the photocatalytic activities of the complex towards C-C, C-N, and C-O bond formation in organic cross-coupling reactions, including the amidation of α-keto acids to amines and the oxidation of alcohol to aldehydes, are also demonstrated.

Objective: Fetomaternal transfusion (FMT) is associated with increased perinatal mortality and morbidity, but data on postnatal outcomes are scarce. Our aim was to determine the incidence of adverse short-termand long-term sequelae of severe FMT.

Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Background: Preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM) before or around the limit of fetal viability is associated with serious maternal and neonatal complications including chorioamnionitis, extremely preterm birth, and pulmonary hypoplasia.

Objectives: To describe contemporary outcomes of extremely preterm infants born after prolonged periviable PPROM, and to identify perinatal factors associated with survival and survival without severe neurodevelopmental impairment (NDI).

Study Design: Among actively treated infants born alive at <27 weeks' gestational age (GA) in centers of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Neonatal Research Network from 2012 to 2018, the outcomes of survival and survival without severe NDI at 22-26 months' corrected age were compared between infants exposed to prolonged (≥120 hours) periviable (<24 weeks' GA) PPROM and unexposed infants born after rupture of membranes ≤18 hours before delivery or at delivery, adjusting for birth GA, sex, multiple gestation, antenatal steroids, small for gestational age (SGA), insurance, and center.

Enhancing the retention of recent memory traces through sleep reactivation is possible via Targeted Memory Reactivation (TMR), involving cueing learned material during post-training sleep. Evidence indicates detectable short-term microstructural changes in the brain within an hour after motor sequence learning, and post-training sleep is believed to contribute to the consolidation of these motor memories, potentially leading to enduring microstructural changes. In this study, we explored how TMR during post-training sleep affects performance gains and delayed microstructural remodeling, using both standard Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and advanced Neurite Orientation Dispersion & Density Imaging (NODDI).

Designing the architecture of donor-acceptor (D-A) pairs is an effective strategy to tailor the electronic structure of conjugated macrocycles for optoelectronic devices. Herein, we present the synthesis of three D-A nanohoops ( = 7, 8, 9) containing a naphthalene diimide (NDI) unit as an acceptor and []cycloparaphenylenes ([]CPPs) moieties as donors. The D-A characteristics of were substantiated through absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic studies, electrochemical investigations, and computational analysis.

Naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based donor-acceptor co-polymers with tunable electronic, optical, mechanical, and transport properties have shown immense potential as n-type conducting polymers in organic (opto)electronics. During the operation, the polymers undergo reduction at different charged states, which alters their (opto)electronic properties mainly due to the formation of the quasiparticles, polaron/bipolaron. The theoretical study based on quantum mechanical calculations can provide us with a detailed understanding of their (opto)electronic properties, which is missing to a great extent.
