Among the many adverse geological disasters, the surge water disaster in karst areas causes the greatest loss to underground engineering construction, so it is necessary to carry out relevant research on the management of surge water disaster in karst pipelines. This study presents the creation of an oily epoxy resin magnetic convergence grouting material (OEMS) specifically developed to prevent water infiltration in pipelines. A self-designed visual karst pipeline grouting simulation system was used to conduct an experimental study on the diffusion and plugging behavior of magnetic slurry grouting. A model was constructed to simulate the migration of a magnetic slurry in water inrush circumstances. The model is based on the theory of slurry diffusion and the concept of magnetic adsorption. The results suggest that:(i) The best performance in grouting sealing is achieved when the ratio of new OEMS epoxy resin A liquid to B liquid is 2:1, and the blending ratio of flyash and FeO powder falls between 25 and 55%. (ii) The primary and secondary correlations among the parameters that affect the rate of change in flow rate, plugging pressure, and slurry retention rate are as follows: Hydrodynamic velocity has the greatest correlation, followed by plugging length, FeO power ratio, and flyash mixture ratio. (iii) The validity of the model is verified by comparing empirical observations with calculated theoretical values.

Background: Mucus plugging has been identified as an important feature of severe asthma contributing to airway obstruction and disease severity. Recently, improvement of mucus plugging has been found upon treatment with several biologic therapies.
Objective: We aimed to analyze associations of baseline characteristic with mucus plugging score (MPS) and asked whether MPS at baseline predicts the clinical and functional response to biologic treatment in patients with severe asthma.

Methanol adsorption isotherms of fresh f-ZSM-5 and steamed s-ZSM-5 (Si/Al ≈ 40) are investigated experimentally at room temperature under equilibrium and by grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations with the aim of understanding the adsorption capacity, geometry and sites as a function of steam treatment (at 573 K for 24 h). Methanol adsorption energies calculated by GCMC are complemented by density functional theory (DFT) employing both periodic and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) techniques. Physical and textural properties of f-ZSM-5 and s-ZSM-5 are characterised by diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transformed spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and N-physisorption, which form a basis to construct models for f-ZSM-5 and s-ZSM-5 to simulate methanol adsorption isotherms by GCMC.

Retinol, α-tocopherol and phylloquinone (vitamins A, E, and K) are presented in high concentrations within the chloroplast and leaves of most plants. They are fat-soluble vitamins and absorb similarly to other dietary lipids. Because the molecular mechanism of retinol, α-tocopherol, and phylloquinone absorption is still unknown, this work aims to investigate the distribution of these vitamins at the water/membrane interface using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Natural products (NPs) play an important role in drug discovery and drug development due to their diverse chemical properties and biological activities. In the present work, an on-line capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed and applied to screen protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) inhibitors in NPs. As a generic technique, transverse diffusion of laminar flow profiles (TDLFP) was utilized to mix all reactants in the capillary for on-line enzymatic reaction.

Background: Susceptibility to relapse is an important feature of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA); early identification of patients at high risk of relapse is urgently needed. A practical score that classifies the severity of ABPA according to its prognosis is not available.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with a diagnosis of ABPA at our hospital between January 2010 and December 2022.
