On the origin of MTF reduction in grating-based x-ray differential phase contrast CT imaging.

Med Phys

December 2024

Research Center for Advanced Detection Materials and Medical Imaging Devices, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Background: The complementary absorption contrast CT (ACT) and differential phase contrast CT (DPCT) can be generated simultaneously from an x-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging system incorporated with grating interferometer. However, it has been reported that ACT images exhibit better spatial resolution than DPCT images. By far, the primary cause of such discrepancy remains unclear.

In this work, we elucidate the electronic charge redistributions that occur within the cyanuric acid (CA) and melamine (M) molecules upon formation of the triple H-bond between the imide group of CA and the diaminopyridine group of M. To achieve this, we investigated 2D H-bonded assemblies of M, CA and CA*M grown on the Au(111) surface, using X-ray photoemission (XPS) and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopies. Compared to the homomolecular networks, the spectra of the mixed sample reveal core level shifts in opposite directions for CA and M, indicating a nearly complementary charge accumulation on the CA molecule and a charge depletion on the M molecule.

The mode mixing problem and inherent mode function selection bias in Fast Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (FEEMD) result in ineffective extraction of fault components during the denoising stage, the loss of coarse-grained information in Multiscale Fuzzy Dispersion Entropy (MFDE) reduces the stability of fault features, and the lack of adaptability of CatBoost hyperparameters leads to reduced diagnostic accuracy. Therefore, a complex variable operating condition fault diagnosis method based on Fast Complementary Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (FCEEMD) - Time-shift Multiscale Fuzzy Dispersion Entropy (TSMFDE) and adaptive Optuna-CatBoost is proposed. We introduce paired white noise with opposite signs in the construction of FCEEMD, effectively suppressing mode aliasing by neutralizing the residual noise generated during decomposition.

Ambipolar conduction in gated tungsten disulphide nanotube.

Nanoscale

December 2024

Department of Physics "E. R. Caianiello", University of Salerno, via Giovanni Paolo II, 84084 Fisciano, Salerno, Italy.

Devices based on transition metal dichalcogenide nanotubes hold great potential for electronic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, the electrical transport and photoresponse characteristics of a back-gate device with a channel made of a single tungsten disulfide (WS) nanotube are investigated as functions of electric stress, ambient pressure, and illumination. As a transistor, the device exhibits p-type conduction, which can be transformed into ambipolar conduction at a high drain-source voltage.
