AI Article Synopsis

  • The CNO cycle is a key nuclear energy process in stars, particularly significant in hydrostatic hydrogen burning at temperatures between 20 to 80 MK.
  • This study reports the first direct measurements of the resonance strength of the ^{17}O(p,γ)^{18}F reaction, revealing a strength about twice as high as previously documented.
  • The findings enhance our comprehension of oxygen isotopic ratios observed in red giant stars and in O-rich presolar grains, confirming consistency with earlier results from different reaction channels.

Article Abstract

The CNO cycle is one of the most important nuclear energy sources in stars. At temperatures of hydrostatic H-burning (20  MK

Half-metallic magnetism, characterized by metallic behavior in one spin direction and semiconducting or insulating behavior in the opposite spin direction, is an intriguing and highly useful physical property for advanced spintronics because it allows for the complete realization of 100% spin-polarized current. Particularly, half-metallic antiferromagnetism is recognized as an excellent candidate for the development of highly efficient spintronic devices due to its zero net magnetic moment combined with 100% spin polarization, which results in lower energy losses and eliminates stray magnetic fields compared to half-metallic ferromagnets. However, the synthesis and characterization of half-metallic antiferromagnets have not been reported until now as the theoretically proposed materials require a delicate and challenging approach to fabricate such complex compounds.

Opportunistic screening is essential to improve the identification of individuals with osteoporosis. Our group has utilized image texture features to assess bone quality using clinical MRIs. We have previously demonstrated that greater heterogeneity of MRI texture related to history of fragility fractures, lower bone density, and worse microarchitecture.

Aim: Hypothyroidism is created by disruption of thyroid hormone production, which can destroy the emotional, relational, social, and working life of patients if left untreated. Hypothyroidism has multiple etiologies. We evaluated the relationship of hematological parameters and inflammatory biomarkers with thyroid hormones to find the potential use of these items in patients screening and prognosis.

Objective: Social factors are central in personal recovery (PR) and treatment of psychosis. However, weak associations between social involvement and PR were found. We aimed to replicate this weak association, and test whether it was explained by a moderating effect of neuroticism and extraversion.

Allopregnanolone (Allo) is a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA receptor, and amiloride (Ami) is a competitive antagonist of the GABA receptor. The purpose of this work was to study the combined effect of Allo and Ami on functional activity of GABA receptor. The GABA-induced chloride current (I) was measured in isolated Purkinje cells of rat cerebellum using the patch-clamp technique and a system of fast application.
