MXenes as an emerging class of 2D materials have great potential in fabricating functional polymer nanocomposites. In this study, TiCT MXene as a representative MXene filler was employed to prepare sPS nanocomposites. The abundant surface groups (mainly -OH) on MXene allowed facile modification, and thus MXene nanosheets bearing -CH groups were prepared using dodecyl triethoxysiloxane (DCTES) as a modifier. Grafting -CH long alkyl chains onto the surface of MXene strongly affected its affinity towards hydrophobic solvent and the sPS matrix. The rheological threshold concentration ( = 0.033 vol%) and exponent ( = 1.51) and the conductivity threshold concentration ( = 0.259 vol%) and exponent ( = 2.92) were determined by applying percolation scaling laws. The influences of DCTES-modified MXene on the polymorphism, mechanical, thermal and flammability properties of nanocomposites were studied. The obtained nanocomposites displayed not only enhanced mechanical properties, but also improved thermal stability and flame retardancy to some extent. Moreover, the higher the loading level of DCTES-modified MXene, the better was the improved effect.

Background: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is an inherited ion channelopathy characterized by a structurally normal heart sensitive to catecholamines. It primarily presents as Bidirectional ventricular tachycardia (BiVT) and is a significant cause of sudden cardiac death in children.
Case Presentation: We report our experience with central Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy in a 4-year-old boy with CPVT.

This paper presents the reversible transformation between two polymorphs of a hexacatenar liquid crystal () with distinct fluorescence colors at room temperature (RT). This method utilizes mechanical pressure (mechanochromism) and an electric field (E-field-chromism). The molecule (), designed with a pyrene core and 1,2,3-triazole linkers, exhibits a blue-emissive crystalline (CRY) polymorph () and a green-emissive liquid crystalline (LC) polymorph () at RT, depending on the cooling rate from the liquid phase.

Osteoporosis is characterized by increased resorption and decreased bone formation; it is predominantly influenced by genetic factors. G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) play a vital role in bone homeostasis, and mutations in these genes are associated with osteoporosis. This study aimed to investigate the impact of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs1042713 in the gene, encoding the beta-2-adrenergic receptor, on osteoblastogenesis.

The multicentered bonds present in planar borophene lead to a more complex structure and richer chemical properties. Herein, we use first-principles calculations to investigate the electronic, mechanical, and superconducting properties of various borophene polymorphs, focusing on the newly synthesized β and β phases. Notably, in order to balance and optimize the electron filling of the valence bond orbitals, the planar borophene structure is composed of a mixture of triangular lattices and hexagonal holes with multicentered bonding, which further enhances the stability of the structure and possesses a rare polymorphic property.

Investigating the formation mechanism and effective manipulation of multi-component crystal polymorphs is crucial for facilitating industrial drug development. Herein, five novel Osimertinib-caffeic acid forms were first strategically tailored by varying solvent selection. Theoretical analysis demonstrated this polymorphism is correlated with multiple hydrogen bond donors-acceptors within multi-component system, which provides manipulation space for reconfiguration of intermolecular interactions and structural competition, while solvent further induced or involved in hydrogen-bonded rearrangements.
