Over the last four decades, pharmaceutical companies' expenditures on research and development have increased 51-fold. During this same time, clinical success rates for new drugs have remained unchanged at about 10 percent, predominantly due to lack of efficacy and/or safety concerns. This persistent problem underscores the need to innovate across the entire drug development process, particularly in drug formulation, which is often deprioritized and under-resourced.

Background: Data about the safety and the efficacy of flow diversion for distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysms are limited. We present the largest multicenter analysis evaluating the outcomes of flow diversion in unruptured DACA aneurysm treatment.
Methods: Databases from 39 centers were retrospectively reviewed for unruptured DACA aneurysms treated with flow-diverting stents.

Background: Trials of endovascular therapy for basilar artery occlusion, including vertebral occlusion extending into the basilar artery, have shown inconsistent results. We aimed to pool data to estimate safety and efficacy and to explore the benefit across pre-specified subgroups through individual patient data meta-analysis.
Methods: VERITAS was a systematic review and meta-analysis that pooled patient-level data from trials that recruited patients with vertebrobasilar ischaemic stroke who were randomly assigned to treatment with either endovascular therapy or standard medical treatment alone.

Prompted by visionary political leaders and a flowering economy, the University of La Plata was founded in 1905, the third Argentinian university after the Universities of Cordoba (1613) and Buenos Aires (1821). Differing from the older universities, more prone to professional formation, the new university was oriented towards teaching and scientific research following western European academic tradition. Along with the university was created the Institute of Physics, the first of its kind in Latin America.

Phototherapy has emerged to eradicate recalcitrant bacteria without causing drug resistance, but it is often accompanied by considerable limitations owing to a high tolerance of recalcitrant bacteria to heat and oxidative damage, leading to low efficiency of monotherapy and unwanted side effects. Assuming that employing antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) to disrupt bacterial membranes could reduce bacterial tolerance, a multifunctional "on-demand" nanosystem based on zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) with metal ions for intrinsic antibacterial activity was constructed to potently kill methicillin-resistant (MRSA). Then, microneedles (MNs) were used to transdermally deliver the ZIF-8-based nanosystem for localized skin infection.
