Hallux rigidus (HR) is a prevalent arthritic condition in the foot. Cheilectomy is a common joint-preserving procedure for HR, involving the removal of prominent osteophytes to relieve impingement of the 1 MTPJ. This study aims to identify factors associated with the failure of cheilectomy in the treatment of HR. A retrospective review of a prospectively collected database from 2007 to 2021 identified all cheilectomy cases. The minimum follow-up was 2 years. Preoperative demographic data, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and foot radiographs were collected. PROMs were reassessed in postoperative reviews, and cases were categorized as successes or failures. Failure was defined by meeting at least one of the following criteria at the latest review: 1) Visual analog pain score (VAS) more than or equal to 4, 2) undergoing subsequent revision procedures, or 3) reporting poor or terrible satisfaction with the surgery. The analysis involved 66 patients, with 19 failure and 47 success cases. Both groups showed similar age, BMI, and gender profiles. Preoperative radiographic parameters were comparable between groups. However, preoperative VAS was significantly higher in the failure group: 7.16 vs 5.23 (p = .0029). Logistic regression confirmed preoperative VAS as a predictor of nonresponse (p = .023). Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis established an optimal cut-off VAS score of 7.0. Patients with a preoperative VAS score of more than 7 had an odds ratio of 5.11 (p = .0055) for failure. A higher preoperative VAS score is significantly associated with cheilectomy failure in HR treatment, suggesting a cutoff score of 7.0.

Anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDwoR) is one of the most common types temporomandibular disorders (TMD), which is often characterized by joint pain, abnormal joint sounds, and limited mouth opening. Disc repositioning has been described as an effective method to reduce joint pain and improve range of motion. Yang's arthroscopic disc repositioning and suturing surgery has been reported to be the most stable technique with 95%-98% of success rate.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of diffusivity metrics of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (MR-DTI) in the assessment of treatment effects.
Methods: MR-DTI examination for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) patients and the diffusivity metrics of the trigeminal ganglion (TG) were analyzed. Before and after the percutaneous stereotactic radiofrequency rhizotomy (PSR) operation, the treatment effect was assessed using pain scores and MR-DTI.

Background: Approximately 103 million people across the globe suffer from symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis, impacting their health and quality of life. The unilateral biportal endoscopic technique is effective for treating single-segment degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis and is seen as a viable alternative to traditional open lumbar laminectomy. However, research on the application of this technique for multilevel lumbar spinal stenosis remains lacking.

Background And Objective: The efficacy of medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in patients with intraoperatively identified patellofemoral osteoarthritis (PFOA) has been a subject of debate. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the early outcomes of UKA in patients with varying intraoperative PFOA conditions and to explore the relationship between the location of PFOA and the position of the prosthesis post-UKA. Our aim was to determine whether the presence of PFOA affects the short-term success of medial UKA.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of the minimally invasive lateral shoulder approach and deltopectoral space approach in the treatment of proximal humerus fractures.
Methods: The clinical data of 95 patients with proximal humerus fractures admitted to the hospital from June 2018 to June 2023 were retrospectively collected. Forty-four patients were treated with a minimally invasive lateral shoulder approach (study group), and 51 patients were treated with a deltopectoral space approach (control group).
