Electric power generation safety incidents can lead to severe consequences, including casualties and widespread power outages. Previous research has mainly focused on the mechanisms and causal relationships of accidents. However, these incidents result from multiple factors working together, lacking systematic analysis. This study examines 161 electric power generation safety incidents from 2015 to 2022, utilizing Grounded Theory for coding to construct a causal model. The derived model is used as a conditional variable for fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), with accident severity as the outcome variable. Forty-five cases are selected for assigning values, and R language and fsQCA software are integrated for univariate necessary condition analysis, followed by configurational analysis. Results show the Grounded Theory-derived causal model includes six factors: human unsafe behavior, equipment factors, enterprise safety management, on-site safety management, safety qualifications of personnel, and environmental factors. Necessary condition analysis indicates incidents result from multiple conditions. Configurational analysis identifies seven paths condensed into three types: management deficiency, low safety qualifications, and unsafe behavior. Recommendations are proposed for each type, discussing intrinsic connections between variables based on conditional variables in configurational paths. The aim is to reduce electric power generation safety incidents, ensure personnel safety, and guarantee continuous electricity supply.

Transitioning to a power system heavily reliant on renewable wind energy involves more than just replacing conventional fossil-fuel-based power plant with wind farms, the wind energy must be able to meet the requirement of voltage establishment and power balance. It is believed that the self synchronized voltage source control of DFIG wind turbine generator is one of the possible solutions to realize virtual inertia and is helpful to increase the frequency stability of power system, thus is meaningful in the transformation of the power system dominated by renewable energy. Plenty of research has been conducted on the self synchronized voltage source control strategy in steady state, but few research is focused on the soft grid integration, which is a complicated process involving wind turbine control and power converter control.

The paper presents a new sensor-less voltage and frequency control method for a stand-alone doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) feeding an isolated load. The proposed control approach directly regulates the magnitude and angle of the rotor-flux vector rather than controlling rotor currents or voltages as in classic field oriented control (FOC). To accurately regulate the magnitude and frequency of stator voltage, two separate closed-loop based PI regulators are employed to evaluate the reference signals of the rotor flux vector magnitude and angle, respectively.

Current industrial separation and sorting technologies struggle to efficiently identify and classify a large part of Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) plastics due to their high content of certain additives. In this study, Raman spectroscopy in combination with machine learning methods was assessed to develop classification models that could improve the identification and separation of Polystyrene (PS), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polycarbonate (PC) and the blend PC/ABS contained in WEEE streams, including black plastics, to increase their recycling rate, and to enhance plastics circularity. Raman spectral analysis was carried out with two lasers of different excitation wavelengths (785 nm and 1064 nm) and varying setting parameters (laser power, integration time, focus distance) with the aim at reducing the fluorescence.

A self-driven electrochemical system (SDES) was utilized to treat anaerobic digestate wastewater, aiming to achieve wastewater resource utilization and energy generation. The efficiencies of pollutant removal, resource recovery, and energy production were enhanced by adjusting device parameters (anode area, external resistance, and electrode spacing). The high pollutant removal rates and struvite purity were achieved with the magnesium anode area of 15 cm, external resistance of 10 Ω, and electrode spacing of 10 cm.

Intensifying the severity of electromagnetic (EM) pollution in the environment represents a significant threat to human health and results in considerable energy wastage. Here, we provide a strategy for electricity generation from heat generated by electromagnetic wave radiation captured from the surrounding environment that can reduce the level of electromagnetic pollution while alleviating the energy crisis. We prepared a porous, elastomeric, and lightweight BiTe/carbon aerogel (CN@BiTe) by a simple strategy of induced in situ growth of BiTe nanosheets with three-dimensional (3D) carbon structure, realizing the coupling of electromagnetic wave absorption (EMA) and thermoelectric (TE) properties.
