The Zika virus (ZIKV) epidemic elicited a rapid commitment to the development of animal models for ZIKV research. Non-human primates (NHPs) and mice have made significant contributions to this research, but NHPs are expensive, have a long gestation period, and are available only in small numbers; non-genetically modified mice are resistant to infection. To address these deficiencies, we have established the laboratory opossum, , as a small animal model that complements the mouse and monkey models.

We present the case of a 13-year-old female diagnosed with juvenile systemic sclerosis, diffuse cutaneous subtype, along with active disseminated tuberculosis. This co-occurrence poses unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, particularly given the risk of tuberculosis exacerbation due to immunosuppressive therapy required for systemic sclerosis. The patient had signs/symptoms like progressive skin tightening and Raynaud's phenomenon; the diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of anti-Scl-70 antibodies.

Background: Diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) frequently relies on MRI dissemination in time (DIT) and space (DIS), as codified in 2017 McDonald criteria (McD 2017). The central vein sign (CVS) is a proposed MS diagnostic biomarker, but its optimal incorporation into McD 2017 has not been extensively studied.
Objective: Evaluate the diagnostic performance of several methods incorporating CVS into McD 2017 radiological DIS criteria.
