Multimodal luminescence involves color-tunable and wavelength manageable photon emissions upon variable luminescence pathways in response to different external stimuli, which provides clear visualization and high-level confidentiality for information encryption technologies. Integrating multimodal luminescence into a single matrix is regarded as a feasible strategy but remains a big challenge. In this work, multimodal (photoluminescence, persistent luminescence, upconversion luminescence, and thermally stimulated luminescence) and multicolor luminescence (green, yellow, orange, pink to red) is achieved in CaWO:Yb,Er,Eu phosphor by employing an interplay of traps and rare earth emission centers. Bright emission in a wide color gamut is achieved dynamically in response to thermal disturbance and light illumination, which further allows for on-demand emission manipulation in space and time dimensions. The compatible coexistence of multiple rare earth emissive centers together with abundant photoactive traps contributes to the excellent integration of multimodal photon emissions in calcium tungstate. This work provides a good example of integrating multimodal luminescence into one single matrix and indicates potential in advanced high-level information encryption applications.

Phenoxazine, as an organic-small-molecule chromophore, has attracted much attention for its potential electrochromic applications recently. To develop appealing materials, phenoxazine chromophores were introduced at the N-position of carbazole-thiophene pigment, yielding two novel monomers (DTCP and DDCP), whose chemical structures were characterized by NMR, HRMS and FTIR. The results of the optical property study indicate that little influence could be observed in the presence of the phenoxazine chromophore.

Rare earth elements (REEs) are considered as emerging contaminants due to their use in the fabrication process of current technologies. As such, their aquatic toxicity, especially as a mixture, is not well understood, as it has been scarcely investigated. The purpose of this study was to shed light on the sublethal and lethal toxicity of a realistic mixture of five REE in .

In the era of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things, data storage has an important impact on the future development direction of data analysis. Resistive random-access memory (RRAM) devices are the research hotspot in the era of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things. Perovskite-type rare-earth metal oxides are common functional materials and considered promising candidates for RRAM devices because their interesting electronic properties depend on the interaction between oxygen ions, transition metals, and rare-earth metals.
