Robotically assisted mitral valve repair using the butterfly technique in a patient with a narrow chest.

J Cardiothorac Surg

January 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Sapporo Cardio Vascular Clinic, 8-1, Kita 49 jyo, Higashi 16 jyo, Higashi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, 007-0849, Japan.

Background: Minimally invasive cardiac surgery for mitral regurgitation is challenging in patients with narrow chests due to limited thoracic space. The butterfly technique can prevent systolic anterior motion in patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation and redundant posterior leaflets, but it is difficult to perform via minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Few reports have described mitral valve repair using the butterfly technique or in a narrow chest.

Background: Conservative dentistry introduced modern restoration designs, contributing to the greater use of partial-coverage ceramic restorations. New strong bondable ceramic materials made fabricating partial coverage ceramic restorations easier to restore the badly destructed teeth.

Aim Of The Study: This study investigated the impact of three distinct overlay preparation designs on the marginal fit (both before and after thermal aging) and the fracture resistance of overlay restorations fabricated using advanced zirconia-reinforced lithium disilicate (ALD) CAD/CAM glass-ceramic blocks.

Purpose And Background: The trigeminal artery is a rare anatomical variant, representing an embryonic vestige of the anastomosis between the internal carotid artery and the posterior circulator system, that can be asymptomatic or could have vast clinical manifestations produced by insufficient flow or by vascular nervous conflicts. This study is an anatomical presentation of 3 trigeminal artery cases observed at Medimar Imagistic Services Constanta.

Methods: The 3 trigeminal artery cases were discovered on a 860 magnetic resonance angiographies (0.

Introduction: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), a highly heterogeneous malignancy is often associated with unfavorable prognosis. Due to its unique anatomical position and the absence of effective early inspection methods, surgical intervention alone is frequently inadequate for achieving complete remission. Therefore, the identification of reliable biomarker is crucial to enhance the accuracy of screening and treatment strategies for HNSCC.
