Herein, an N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyzed radical tandem cyclization reaction of -allylbromodifluoroacetamides and aldehydes has been developed. This method is an efficient protocol for synthesizing α,α-difluoro-γ-lactam derivatives in moderate to good yields (27 examples, up to 88% yield and 10 : 1 dr). This strategy features mild and metal-free conditions, high efficiency, and a broad substrate scope.

A straightforward synthesis of -dihydronaphthodioxine has been efficiently accomplished through Cu(II)-NHC catalysis, involving the stereoselective ring opening of -epoxides with quinoid-carbene. Intramolecular S2-like substitution facilitates the inversion of stereochemistry during -epoxide ring opening. This reaction has been developed under simple conditions, demonstrating a broad substrate scope with a wide chemoselective profile.

Arginine methylation is a common post-translational modification that plays critical roles in many biological processes. However, the existence of arginine demethylases that remove the modification has not been fully established. Here, we report that Myc-induced nuclear antigen 53 (Mina53), a member of the jumonji C (JmjC) protein family, is an arginine demethylase.

As global demand for fossil fuels rises amidst depleting reserves and environmental concerns, exploring sustainable and renewable energy sources has become imperative. This study investigated the pyrolysis of corncob, a widely available agricultural waste, using urea as a catalyst to enhance bio-oil production. The aim was to determine the optimum urea concentration and pyrolysis temperature for bio-oil yield from corncob.

Echinocandin antifungals exhibit high efficacy against drug-resistant strains due to their unique mechanism of action. The production of their semi-synthetic precursors relies solely on microbial metabolism, leading to elevated production costs. Anidulafungin, an excellent echinocandin drug, is derived from echinocandin B (ECB), which is industrially produced by Aspergillus pachycristatus.

Matrix effects pose a significant challenge in food analysis for the quantitative analysis of complex food samples. Herein, a novel magnetic covalent organic framework nanocomposite and the copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) click reaction-based stable isotope labeling (SIL) method were presented for highly selective and sensitive detection of steroid hormones in food samples using HPLC-MS/MS. The nanocomposite, FeO@TAPB-COF, with a core-shell structure exhibited high adsorption capacities for steroid hormones.
