In this work, we present a generalized implementation of the previously developed restricted open-shell configuration interaction singles (ROCIS) family of methods. The new method allows us to treat high-spin (HS) ferro- as well as antiferromagnetically (AF) coupled systems while retaining the total spin as a good quantum number. To achieve this important and nontrivial goal, we employ the machinery of the iterative configuration expansion (ICE) method, which is able to tackle general configuration interaction (CI) problems on the basis of spin-adapted configuration state functions (CSFs).

Primary Cutaneous Rhabdoid Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report and Review of Molecular Features.

Cureus

November 2024

Dermatopathology, Regional Medical Laboratory and Pathology Laboratory Associates, Tulsa, USA.

We present a rare case of rhabdoid squamous cell carcinoma (RSCC) on the scalp of a non-immunosuppressed male patient in his late 60s. This aggressive variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is characterized by tumor cells with eccentrically located nuclei and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, as observed on histopathological examination. While rhabdoid morphology has been reported in various anatomical sites, its occurrence in primary cutaneous tumors is exceptionally uncommon, with fewer than 10 cases documented to date.

A Preliminary Assessment of Barriers and Facilitators to Accessing Foot Care in Homeless Shelters: A Scoping Review.

Ann Vasc Surg

Innovation Hub, Centre de Recherche du Centre Hospitalier de Montréal, Montréal, QC; Division of Vascular Surgery, Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal, Montréal, QC. Electronic address:

Background: This scoping review aims to explore the most common foot problems people experiencing homelessness (PEH) experience, as well as to explore the potential strategies for addressing foot problems in PEH, such as foot clinics, foot screening, and foot care for adults experiencing homelessness.

Methods: A scoping review of the literature from MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), PubMed, clinicaltrials.gov, Google Scholar, and Web of Science was conducted to identify relevant articles published from inception to April 14, 2023.

Tributyrin (TB) can be hydrolyzed into short chain fatty acids (butyric acid) in the gastrointestinal tract, which are claimed to exhibit beneficial health effects in the colon. However, digestion of tributyrin in the stomach and small intestine may promote its absorption in the upper gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing its potential colonic health benefits. In this study, we therefore developed a novel method of encapsulating emulsified tributyrin within biopolymer-based hydrogel beads (≈ 800 μm) that were then encapsulated inside the boba beads (≈ 8-10 mm) found in bubble tea.

Unintentionally Retained Elevator Blade Left for 8 Years Causes Mild Chronic Pain.

J Craniofac Surg

November 2024

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Universidad de los Andes.

Fracture of surgical instruments in dental practice is not usually reported in the literature. Management involves searching for and retrieving the fragment to avoid issues such as infection, swallowing, or aspiration. Although foreign bodies may not cause symptoms for years, some can cause chronic pain.
