Dissecting the cellular architecture and genetic circuitry of the soybean seed.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Department of Plant Biology, College of Biological Sciences, University of California, Davis, CA 95616.

Seeds are complex structures composed of three regions, embryo, endosperm, and seed coat, with each further divided into subregions that consist of tissues, cell layers, and cell types. Although the seed is well characterized anatomically, much less is known about the genetic circuitry that dictates its spatial complexity. To address this issue, we profiled mRNAs from anatomically distinct seed subregions at several developmental stages.

Impact of nursing interventions on hemodialysis patients using the integrated theory of health behavior change.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

Department of Nephrology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University/West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

This study investigated the impact of nursing interventions based on the Integrated Theory of Health Behavior Change on hemodialysis patients. A retrospective analysis of 713 hemodialysis patients' electronic medical records from June 2020 to November 2023 was conducted. Patients were divided into an experimental group, receiving nursing interventions based on the theory, and a control group, receiving regular nursing care.

Bacteria and archaea acquire resistance to genetic parasites by preferentially integrating short fragments of foreign DNA at one end of a Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat (CRISPR). "Leader" DNA upstream of CRISPR loci regulates transcription and foreign DNA integration into the CRISPR. Here, we analyze 37,477 CRISPRs from 39,277 bacterial and 556 archaeal genomes to identify conserved sequence motifs in CRISPR leaders.
