Cell culture underpins virus isolation and virus neutralisation tests, which are both gold-standard diagnostic methods for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Cell culture is also crucial for the propagation of inactivated foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) vaccines. Both primary cells and cell lines are utilised in FMDV isolation and propagation.

TSPX is an X-linked tumor suppressor that was initially identified in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines. However, its expression patterns and downstream mechanisms in NSCLC remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the functions of TSPX in NSCLC by identifying its potential downstream targets and their correlation with clinical outcomes.

The blastocyst develops a unique metabolism that facilitates the creation of a specialized microenvironment at the site of implantation characterized by high levels of lactate and reduced pH. While historically perceived as a metabolic waste product, lactate serves as a signaling molecule which facilitates the invasion of surrounding tissues by cancers and promotes blood vessel formation during wound healing. However, the role of lactate in reproduction, particularly at the implantation site, is still being considered.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare, progressive, and poor-prognosis systemic disorder that primarily affects women of reproductive age, with a higher prevalence among individuals of Caucasian origin. However, there are limited reliable data on the prevalence of LAM during pregnancy. The fulminant respiratory clinical presentation that often includes progressive dyspnea on exertion, cough, or hemoptysis, frequently complicated by pneumothorax, and the increased risk of spontaneous abortion due to increased estrogen and progesterone production during gestation, are arguments that most often make the diagnosed woman avoid pregnancy.

Objective: Machine learning (ML), a subtype of artificial intelligence (AI), presents predictive modeling and dynamic diagnostic tools to facilitate early interventions and improve decision-making. Considering the global challenges of maternal, fetal, and neonatal morbidity and mortality, ML holds the potential to enable significant improvements in maternal and neonatal health outcomes. We aimed to conduct a comprehensive review of ML applications in peripartum care, summarizing the potential of these tools to enhance clinical decision-making and identifying emerging trends and research gaps.
