We describe our approach to addressing a nation-wide supply issue for blood culture bottles. Aerobic blood culture bottles received from our distributor July 1-15, 2024 was <1% of typical usage. Through education and ordering restrictions blood culture designed to minimize risk, orders were reduced by 49% over a one-week period.

Haematological malignancies comprise a diverse group of life-threatening systemic diseases, including leukaemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Currently available therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and CAR-T cells, are often associated with important side effects and with the development of drug resistance and, consequently, disease relapse. In the last decades, it was largely demonstrated that the tumor microenvironment significantly affects cancer cell proliferation and tumor response to treatment.

Our aim was to furnish a comprehensive analysis of HTN prevalence, trends, control efforts, awareness, barriers in care delivery and associated factors, based on nationally derived evidence in Sri Lanka. A systematic search of online databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus), local journals and repositories yielded 6704 results, of which 106 were included.

He was initially treated for sepsis, however, subsequent imaging and blood cultures confirmed the diagnosis of Lemierre's syndrome (LS). LS, also known as necrobacillosis or post-pharyngitis anaerobic septicaemia is comprised of a triad of metastatic septic emboli secondary to pharyngitis, bacteraemia, and internal jugular vein thrombophlebitis.
