Given the importance of quinazolines and quinazolinethiones in therapeutic and Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved molecules, we thought interesting to consider their synthesis in green solvents. We have shown that obtain 4-(arylamino)quinazoline-2-(1H)-thiones and 4-(arylamino)pteridine-2-(1H)-thiones analogues was efficient in green solvents derived from biomass, especially eucalyptol. Although reaction times are somewhat long to achieve good yields, the products were obtained by simple filtration. This considerably limited the loss of atoms due to the use of large quantities of solvents for purification on silica gel columns, and makes our route a sustainable one.

Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) have gained increasing attention due to their robust mechanical properties, favorable biocompatibility, and facile surface modification. However, green and recyclable CNF production remains challenging. Herein, a green, low-cost and room-temperature strategy was developed to exfoliate CNFs using deep eutectic solvents.

Departamento de Química, Área de Química Analítica, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de La Laguna (ULL), Avenida Astrofísico Francisco Sánchez s/n, 38206 San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.

In this work, two novel (-)-menthol-based hydrophobic natural eutectic solvents with vanillin and cinnamic acid were prepared and applied as extraction solvents. In this regard, 12 endocrine disruptors, including phenol, 2,4-dimethylphenol, 2,3,6-trimethylphenol, 4--butylphenol, 4--butylphenol, 4--amylphenol, 4--hexylphenol, 4--octylphenol, 4--heptylphenol, 4--octylphenol, and 4--nonylphenol and bisphenol A, were studied in a green tea drink. A temperature-controlled liquid-liquid microextraction was used as the extraction method, and nano-liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection was used as the separation and determination system.

Instituto de Ciencias de la Vid y del Vino (ICVV) (Universidad de La Rioja, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Gobierno de La Rioja), 26007 Logroño, Spain.

The objectives of this study were to obtain and characterise polyphenolic extracts from red grape pomace of L. cv Graciano via conventional solvent extraction (SE) and green supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and to evaluate their antibacterial activity against susceptible and multidrug-resistant strains of intestinal origin. The SE and SFE methods were optimised, and ultra-performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (UPLC/QqQ-MS/MS) analysis revealed 38 phenolic compounds in the SE sample, with anthocyanins being the predominant polyphenols, and 21 phenolic compounds in the SFE samples, among which hydroxybenzoic acids and flavonols were the predominant compounds.

Green chemistry focuses on reducing the environmental impacts of chemicals through sustainable practices. Traditional methods for extracting bioactive compounds from leaves, such as hydro-distillation and organic solvent extraction, have limitations, including long extraction times, high energy consumption, and potential toxic solvent residues. This study explored the use of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), and gas-expanded liquid (GXL) processes to improve efficiency and selectivity.
