To assess the effectiveness of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) on electrocardiographic remodeling in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS), and identify its influencing factors. A cohort study was conducted on patients with a confirmed diagnosis of severe AS who successfully underwent TAVR at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University between June 2018 and March 2023. Data, including standard 15-lead electrocardiograms and echocardiograms, were collected before the operation, 1 week after the operation, and 3 months after the operation.

Article Synopsis
  • Aortic arch anomalies are varied conditions that can significantly affect patient health, and understanding their prevalence and effective diagnostic methods is essential for quality patient care.
  • A study was conducted in a hospital analyzing data from 2350 patients who underwent CT angiography, revealing 18 individuals diagnosed with various aortic arch anomalies like left aortic arch with aberrant right subclavian artery and aortic coarctation.
  • Although these anomalies are frequently asymptomatic, advanced CT techniques are the best diagnostic approach, capable of highlighting associated cardiac or vascular issues.

Background: This study aimed to determine the relationship between preoperative arterial calcifications and postoperative outcomes after Ivor Lewis esophagectomies.

Methods: This was a single-center retrospective review of Ivor Lewis esophagectomies from 2013 to 2018. Preoperative CT imaging was reviewed, and arterial calcifications were graded (absent, minor, or major) in various locations.

Background: We investigated differences in intracranial embolus distribution through communicating arteries in relation to supra-aortic vessel (SAV) patency.

Methods: For this experimental analysis, we created a silicone model of the extracranial and intracranial circulations using a blood-mimicking fluid under physiological pulsatile flow. We examined the sequence of embolus lodgment on injecting 104 frangible clot analogues (406 emboli) through the right internal carotid artery (CA) as SAV patency changed: (a) all SAV patent (baseline), (b) emboli from a CA occlusion, (c) emboli contralateral to a CA occlusion and (d) occlusion of the posterior circulation.
