This case scenario involves a young woman who has been experiencing recurrent pulmonary tract infections and worsening dyspnea since childhood, presenting as pneumonic consolidation on a chest X-ray. The case explores the importance of lung scans, CT pulmonary angiography, and bronchoscopy to elicit the absence of lung parenchyma on one side.

Primary pleural liposarcoma (PPL) is a rare primary malignant pleural tumour originating from primitive mesenchymal tissue. We report the case of a 25-year-old man with a 6-week history of shortness of breath, cough, chest pain and hoarseness of voice. Chest X-ray showed a left opacified hemithorax, and thoracic CT scan revealed a large, heterogeneous, hypodense mass in the left hemithorax.

We present three patients with different types of pulmonary underdevelopment, their imaging features and associated anomalies. Case 1 is a premature neonate with persistent respiratory distress.
