The stability of the glenohumeral joint, known for its remarkable mobility, relies on several factors, including the congruency of the joint's bones and the integrity of capsulolabral structures, encompassing the labrum, the capsule, and the glenohumeral ligaments. In cases of anterior shoulder instability, bone lesions are a common occurrence, most frequently involving glenoid bone loss and Hill-Sachs lesions. When both glenoid and humeral bone lesions coexist, the isolated Bankart procedure has exhibited a significant rate of failure. In such instances, the Latarjet procedure, especially when bone loss is present, retains its position as the gold standard, thanks to its consistent success in both short- and long-term outcomes. Recent advancements in research have explored alternative strategies to address bone loss, including the Remplissage procedure for humeral bone deficits and the use of bone block grafts to manage glenoid bone lesions, with a focus on achieving more anatomical techniques. However, it's crucial to recognize that, beyond bone loss, a multitude of intrinsic and extrinsic factors come into play when determining the most suitable treatment. The patient's profile, including factors like constitutional laxity and activity level, must be carefully considered in the decision-making process. The Latarjet procedure maintains its esteemed status as a benchmark in the field, thanks to its consistent excellence in both short- and long-term results. This article seeks to provide insights into the roles and placement of various surgical techniques within the context of chronic anterior shoulder instability, taking into account the intricate interplay of factors that influence treatment decisions.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to improve the economic value of the processed by-products of farmed miiuy croaker () by evaluating the nutrient composition and osteogenic activity of its bones. We prepared bone peptides (MMBP) and analyzed their osteogenic potential.

Methods: We assessed the osteogenic activity of MMBP by molecular docking, MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation assay and zebrafish growth model, and evaluated its effect on osteoporosis (OP) using a retinoic acid-induced osteoporosis rat model.

Background: Significant osseous defects or osteonecrosis, precipitated by open fractures, infections, or neoplastic conditions, represent infrequent yet critical medical conditions. The free vascularized fibular graft (FVFG) is a challenging but straightforward, reliable surgical intervention for the reconstruction of defects across various anatomical regions. This study aims to compare, quantify, and demonstrate the FVFG's versatility.

Background: Pelvic fractures often result in traumatic and intraoperative blood loss. Cell salvage (CS) is a tool where autologous blood lost during surgery is collected and recycled with anticoagulation, centrifugation to separate red blood cells, and washing to be reinfused back to the patient. The purpose of this study was to investigate our experience with CS in pelvic and acetabular surgery and its relationship to perioperative transfusion requirements.

Previous reports have indicated that during the era of combination antiretroviral therapy, the major causes of morbidity and mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH) were not solely linked to HIV-related opportunistic infections but also to cancers that were difficult to manage due to HIV-related immunodeficiency. We investigated whether PLWH who underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) for lymphomas experienced significant morbidity over the past thirty years following HIV infection. We conducted a retrospective follow-up study of 49 PLWH over a 10-year period following ASCT.

Background: Clonal myeloproliferation and fibrotic transformation of the bone marrow (BM) are the pathogenetic events most commonly occurring in myelofibrosis (MF). There is great evidence indicating that tumor microenvironment is characterized by high lactate levels, acting not only as an energetic source, but also as a signaling molecule.

Methods: To test the involvement of lactate in MF milieu transformation, we measured its levels in MF patients' sera, eventually finding a massive accumulation of this metabolite, which we showed to promote the expansion of immunosuppressive subsets.
