Reproductive problems in cattle are frequent and have an important impact on production. In addition, inflammatory, traumatic and other diseases may be followed by the development of tumours, which are a cause of culling of breeding males. The main types of tumours diagnosed in the bull penis are fibropapilloma and squamous cell carcinoma. The aim of this study was to characterize a case of a tumour in the glans penis of a bull from a dairy farm in Santa Fe, Argentina. The neoplastic tissue was stained with haematoxylin and eosin and then analysed by immunohistochemistry to reveal its characteristic phenotype. Results showed positivity to vimentin, neuron specific enolase, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, S100 and glial fibrillary acidic protein. This suggested that the tumour was a neoplasm of neural origin, classified as neurofibrosarcoma, a peripheral nerve sheath tumour, here reported in the penis of a bull for the first time.

Hypospadias occurs sporadically in male livestock and is characterized by a non-fused urethra during fetal development. In this study, perineal hypospadias, a bifid scrotum, penile hypoplasia, and bilateral abdominal cryptorchidism were diagnosed in a neonatal Holstein male calf. Septicemia was also suspected due to hypothermia, blurred conjunctivae, and loss of sucking and swallowing reflexes.

, the causative agent of bovine trichomoniasis, is an obligate protozoan parasite of the bovine reproductive tract and can be found on the penis, prepuce, and distal urethra of the bull and from the cranial vagina to the oviduct in the infected cow. To date, the microbiome of bulls infected with has not been described. The objectives of this study were to (1) describe the preputial and penile microbiome of bulls chronically infected by (2) describe the seminal microbiome of -infected bulls, and (3) evaluate different collection devices that could be used for sampling.

Background: Penile fibropapilloma is a condition caused by bovine papilloma virus and is frequently encountered in young bulls. Penile fibropapillomatosis is thought to be spread through homosexual mounting behaviour. Fibropapillomas of the penis are painful, often bleed and can impede normal intromission.
