Cardiac growth patterns and metabolism before and after birth in swine: Role of miR in proliferation, hypertrophy and metabolism.

J Mol Cell Cardiol Plus

September 2024

Early Origins of Adult Health Research Group, Health and Biomedical Innovation, UniSA: Clinical and Health Sciences, University of South Australia, Adelaide, SA 5001, Australia.

The adult mammalian heart is unable to undergo cardiac repair, limiting potential treatment options after cardiac damage. However, the fetal heart is capable of cardiac repair. In preparation for birth, cardiomyocytes (CMs) undergo major maturational changes that include exit from the cell cycle, hypertrophic growth, and mitochondrial maturation.

Peptide-Ca chelates are innovative calcium supplements. possesses nutritional advantages for preparing calcium-binding peptides (CBPs), although there are limited studies on this subject. Therefore, this paper investigated the optimal condition for preparing CBPs and peptide-calcium chelates (LP-Ca), along with analyzing their microstructure, calcium-binding mechanisms, stability, and calcium transporting efficacy.

Background: The treatment and control of malaria in Africa is challenged by drug resistance, including transporter, folate pathway, and PfK13 mutations that mediate resistance to aminoquinolines, antifolates, and artemisinins, respectively. Characterization of drug susceptibility informs optimal control strategies.

Methods: We characterized ex vivo susceptibilities to nine drugs of isolates collected from individuals presenting with uncomplicated falciparum malaria in eastern (2019-2024) and northern (2021-2024) Uganda using a growth inhibition assay and the dihydroartemisinin (DHA) ring survival assay (RSA).

This study aimed to assess the environmental variables affecting the Body Mass Index of older adults at neighborhood levels (1 ha) while mapping probability distributions of normal, overweight-obese, and underweight older adults. We applied a data-driven method that integrates open-access remote sensing products and geospatial data, along with the first nutritional survey in the Philippines with geo-locations conducted in 2021. We used ensemble machine learning of different presence-only and presence-absence models, all subjected to hyperparameter tuning and variable decorrelation.

This study compared the apical transportation and centering ratio of ProTaper Next (PTN) and XP-endo Shaper (XPS) nickel titanium (NiTi) rotary files in curved root canals using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The current in vitro study involved the mesiobuccal canals of mesial roots in 44 extracted mandibular first molars that exhibited apical curvature ranging from 10° to 30°. Two experimental groups were randomly formed from the teeth ( = 22) and subjected to instrumentation with PTN and XPS.
