Nursing homes struggle with safety issues, despite decades of intervention. This may, in part, stem from a reliance on a historical perspective that views safety as an intrinsic part of well-designed systems, with errors resulting from knowable, fixable causes. A new perspective (Resilient Health Care) assumes, instead, that in complex systems such as nursing homes, uncertainties and trade-offs occur in the course of everyday work. In this view, Resilient Health Care performance requires adapting to changes at different system levels to maintain high-quality care. An evidence-based program known as LOCK offers nursing homes a practical method for operationalizing a Resilient Health Care perspective. The LOCK program provides structures and processes that support frontline staff to successfully and safely navigate the complex interactions and factors that affect their daily provision of care. Climate-sensitive extreme weather events are increasingly impacting frontline clinic operations. We conducted a national, cross-sectional survey of 284 self-identified administrators and other staff at frontline clinics determining their attitudes toward climate change and the impacts, resilience, and preparedness of clinics for extreme weather events. Most respondents (80.

Microbiome-animal host symbioses are ubiquitous in nature. Animal-associated microbiomes can play a crucial role in host physiology, health and resilience to environmental stressors. As climate change drives rising global temperatures and increases the frequency of thermal extremes, microbiomes are emerging as a new frontier in buffering vulnerable animals against temperature fluctuations.

Purpose: Given the lack of available and effective interventions to address the detrimental consequences of perinatal exposure to intimate partner violence (IPV) on maternal mental health, and reported very low access to IPV-related mental health services in Mexico, we examined the feasibility and efficacy of a culturally adapted, virtual, brief group psychosocial intervention designed to improve maternal mental and physical health and reduce IPV revictimization for pregnant women exposed to IPV. In this pilot randomized controlled trial, we evaluated maternal outcomes after participation in the Pregnant Moms' Empowerment Program (PMEP) in Mexico.
Methods: Women were recruited from social service agencies and health centers in the community, as well as social media advertisements that targeted pregnant women living in Mexico.

Objectives: Media exposure to extreme police violence is an increasingly widespread problem that has negative consequences for the mental health of viewers. Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by police violence and its negative consequences, but little is understood from their own perspectives as media viewers.
Method: The present study uses a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to better understand Black American experiences of witnessing lethal police violence toward Black Americans via social media.

Objectives: Using a multimethod approach, this study sought to identify the contribution of different facets of resilience to Pacific peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand's mental health and well-being and to explore the construct of resilience in the light of COVID-19 lockdowns.
Method: Study 1 ( = 88) included a Pacific community sample (67% female, 33% male; = 39 years, range = 19-80 years). Participants completed a survey measuring personal, spiritual, family and community resilience, well-being, Pacific identity, and mental distress.
