Presently, researchers are placing emphasis on microwave absorption coating design while neglecting the research on materials that integrate both microwave absorption performance and mechanical properties. Here, robust FeSiAl/PEEK composites were prepared by a series process, including post ball-milling annealing, sol-gel method, and hot pressing. A detailed analysis of the electromagnetic (EM) parameters reveals the significant effects of morphology, filling ratio, and microstructure of FeSiAl on EM losses under a wide-temperature range.

Background: Recent advancements in contemporary therapeutic approaches have increased the survival rates of lung cancer patients; however, the long-term benefits remain constrained, underscoring the pressing need for novel biomarkers. Surfactant-associated 3 (SFTA3), a long non-coding RNA predominantly expressed in normal lung epithelial cells, plays a crucial role in lung development. Nevertheless, its function in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains inadequately understood.

Characterization of Composites from Post-Consumer Polypropylene and Oilseed Pomace Fillers.

Polymers (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Technology and Entrepreneurship in Wood Industry, Institute of Wood Sciences and Furniture, Warsaw University of Life Sciences-SGGW, 159 Nowoursynowska St., 02-776 Warsaw, Poland.

This study investigates the properties of composites produced using post-consumer polypropylene (PP) reinforced with lignocellulosic fillers from (black cumin) and rapeseed pomace. Using agri-food by-products like pomace supports waste management efforts and reduces the demand for wood in wood-plastic composites. The composite production method combined extrusion and hot flat pressing.

Exploring Metal-Metal Composites: A Study on AA5083 Matrix-Cr Particles Reinforced Composites.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Faculty of Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Karadeniz Technical University, 61080 Trabzon, Turkey.

The objective of this study is to develop chromium-reinforced metal-metal composites utilizing an AA5083 aluminum alloy matrix through powder metallurgy while also examining their properties. Samples were produced by incorporating varying quantities of chromium (5%, 10%, and 15% by weight) into the AA5083 matrix. In order to ensure a uniform distribution of chromium particles, the powders were blended in a ball mill and subsequently hot-pressed at 500 °C under 500 MPa for a period of two hours in an argon atmosphere.

Boron carbide (BC) is an essential material in various high-performance applications due to its light weight and hardness. In this work, BC-based composites were fabricated via a powder route consisting of powder mixing, precursor preparation, and hot-pressing under vacuum. The composites' mechanical properties and microstructure were analyzed to investigate the effect of adding minor second-phase particles.
