Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the cultural validity and reliability of a Finnish version of the nine-item Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire (SDM-Q-9) in a sample of patients with different sociodemographic characteristics.
Method: The original SDM-Q-9 was translated into Finnish with the agreement of the developers of the original scale. The standardised translation procedure was followed by a pilot test of the questionnaire. The data were collected from an online questionnaire. Reliability was estimated by Cronbach's alpha. Structural validity of the questionnaire was assessed by confirmatory factor analysis.
Results: The pilot study assessing the cultural validity of the scale was a success, as it did not find any expressions needing to be revised. The Finnish version of the SDM-Q-9 - the SDM-Q-9-FIN - was tested in the study where a total of 736 patients responded to the questionnaire. The questionnaire yielded high reliability with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.92. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the unidimensional factor structure with Item 1 excluded.

Aims/hypothesis: Eating disorders are over-represented in type 1 diabetes and are associated with an increased risk of complications, but it is unclear whether type 1 diabetes affects the treatment of eating disorders. We assessed incidence and treatment of eating disorders in a nationwide sample of individuals with type 1 diabetes and diabetes-free control individuals.
Methods: Our study comprised 11,055 individuals aged <30 who had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1998-2010, and 11,055 diabetes-free control individuals matched for age, sex and hospital district.

Angiotensensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) is a receptor for SARS-CoV-2, allowing the virus to enter cells. Although tumor patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 often have a worse outcome, the expression, function and clinical relevance of ACE2 in tumors has not yet been thoroughly analyzed. In this study, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data from tumors, adjacent tissues and whole blood samples of COVID-19 patients from genome databases and from tumor cell lines and endothelial cells infected with different SARS-CoV-2 variants or transfected with an ACE2 expression vector (ACE2) or mock (ACE2) were analyzed for the expression of ACE2 and immune response relevant molecules in silico or by qPCR, flow cytometry, Western blot and/or RNA-seq.

Background: The Finnish Shaft of the Humerus (FISH) trial compared open reduction and internal plate fixation (ORIF) with functional bracing in adult patients with displaced, closed humeral shaft fractures. Here, we compare the results of the patients in the randomized clinical trial (RCT [the randomized cohort]) with those of the cohort of patients who were also eligible but declined randomization (the nonrandomized cohort) to investigate if patients' treatment preference was associated with the outcomes during a 2-year follow-up.
Methods: A total of 321 patients were treated at 2 university hospitals in Finland between November 2012 and January 2018.
