Inhibitory activity against angiotensin-converting enzyme (IAACE) by chicken skin collagen hydrolysate (CSCH) and their peptide fractions before and after in-vitro gastrointestinal digestion, were evaluated; as well as their ability to modulate lipid accumulation in 3 T3-L1 adipocytes. Before digestion, peptide fraction <1 kDa (F4) showed the highest IAACE (p < 0.05) followed by CSCH. After these samples were digested, F4 presented an IAACE with IC similar to its digest (DF4) (188.84 and 220.03 μg/mL, respectively), which was 2-fold lower (p < 0.05) than IC of fraction <1 kDa from post-digested hydrolysate (FDH) (388.57 μg/mL). Nine peptides were identified as the potential ACE inhibitors in F4 and DF4. Addition of DF4 (800 μg/mL) reduced(p < 0.05) lipid accumulation by 83% within preadipocytes. A 45-60% reduction of lipid accumulation within differentiated adipocytes was obtained by adding FDH and DF4 (regardless the concentration). These results, digested CSCH and F4 with IAACE may be considered as potential adjuvants for obesity treatment.

Aims: Whether prior treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) modifies efficacy and safety of sacubitril/valsartan (Sac/Val) in patients with heart failure (HF) and ejection fraction (EF) >40% is unclear, thus Sac/Val according to ACEi/ARB status at baseline was assessed.
Methods And Results: This was a pre-specified analysis of Prospective comparison of ARNI with ARB Given following stabiLization In DEcompensated HFpEF (PARAGLIDE-HF), a double-blind, randomized controlled trial of Sac/Val versus valsartan, categorizing patients according to baseline ACEi/ARB status. The primary endpoint was time-averaged proportional change in N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) from baseline through weeks 4 and 8.

Aims: A cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) approach to non-invasively estimate left ventricular (LV) filling pressure was recently developed and shown to correlate with invasively measured pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). We examined the association between CMR-estimated PCWP (CMR-PCWP) and other imaging and biomarker measures of congestion, and the effect of empagliflozin on these, in the SUGAR-DM-HF trial (NCT03485092).
Methods And Results: SUGAR-DM-HF enrolled 105 patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes who were randomly assigned to empagliflozin 10 mg or placebo once daily for 36 weeks.

The current study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Compound Danshen Dripping Pills (CDDP) in improving cardiac function among patients with acute anterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (AAMI). Between February 2021 and February 2023, 247 eligible patients with AAMI after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) were enrolled and randomly assigned (1∶1) to receive CDDP ( = 126) or placebo ( = 121), with a follow-up of 48 weeks. Compared with the placebo group, the CDDP group demonstrated a significant increase in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) values after 24 weeks of the treatment (least squares mean: 3.

Background: Andersen-Tawil syndrome (ATS) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder caused by variants in the gene. It is associated with periodic paralysis, dysmorphic features and cardiac arrhythmias. The syndrome exhibits incomplete penetrance, leading to a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, making diagnosis challenging.

Background: Heart failure (HF) guidelines recommend routine testing for iron deficiency (ID) and, for those with ID, intravenous iron if the left ventricular ejection fraction is <50%. Guideline adherence to these recommendations by cardiologists in China is unknown.
Methods And Results: An independent academic web-based survey was designed and distributed via social networks to cardiologists across China.
