MicroRNA-155 as Biomarker and Its Diagnostic Value in Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review.

World J Oncol

February 2025

Department of Biomedical Science, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia.

The investigation of microRNAs (miRNAs) for the purpose of identifying biomarkers and new treatments for breast cancer has been gaining traction from scientists in recent years. Of all the miRNAs, miR-155 has been reportedly involved in breast cancer development as it regulates various cellular processes such as glucose uptake, proliferation, metastasis, and migration. Various efforts have been done towards researching miR-155 as a biomarker in breast cancer; however, the results were varied.

The prognostic significance of epoxide hydrolases in colorectal cancer.

Biochem Biophys Rep

March 2025

Shenzhen Nucleus Gene Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, 518071, China.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignant cancer. Epoxide hydrolases (EHs) are involved in the development of cancer by regulating epoxides, but their relationship with CRC is unclear. We used multiple datasets to confirm the expression of different EPHX family members in CRC tissues, and to explore their association with different clinicopathologic characteristics.

Breast carcinoma is one of the most common causes of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide. The primary objective of the present study was to eva-luate the expression of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related markers Lin28, MUC1, and lipocalin-2 in invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) and to investigate their correlation with clinicopathological characteristics and patient survival. This prospective cohort study included 120 classic ILC cases investigated for immunohistochemical expressions of Lin28, MUC1, and lipocalin-2 and followed them for five years or until death.

The enzyme phosphatidylinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) regulates cellular proliferation and apoptosis. Somatic mutations in the PIK3CA gene can accelerate these processes and significantly contribute to the development and progression of breast cancer. This study aimed to ascertain the PIK3CA gene mutations in breast cancer patients and investigate their correlation with certain clinicopathological characteristics.

Background: Exploring the potential of as a diagnostic biomarker in prostate cancer.

Methods: Expression of the lncRNA was analyzed between normal and tumor samples in the GDC TCGA PRAD (Genomic Data Commons: The Cancer Genome Atlas Prostate Adenocarcinoma Collection) dataset. Disease progression-related clinicopathological parameters such as serum PSA level (ng/ml) and Gleason score were associated with the expression of using the same GDC TCGA PRAD dataset.
