Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains a significant healthcare challenge, necessitating innovative therapeutic approaches to address its complex and multifactorial nature. Traditional drug discovery strategies targeting single molecular targets are not sufficient for the effective treatment of AD. In recent years, MTDLs have emerged as promising candidates for AD therapy, aiming to simultaneously modulate multiple pathological targets.

This Therapeutic Letter considers the evidence for inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) as a treatment for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Drug therapy aims to alleviate symptoms, enhance functional capacity and prevent exacerbations, but has not consistently shown to reduce mortality or improve quality of life based on randomised trials.Inhaled corticosteroids have shown limited benefits for COPD symptoms and exacerbations but increased risks of serious harms.

Background: Muscarinic receptor agonism and positive allosteric modulation is a promising mechanism of action for treating psychosis, not present in most D2R-blocking antipsychotics. Xanomeline, an M1/M4-preferring agonist, has shown efficacy in late-stage clinical trials, with more compounds being investigated. Therefore, we aim to synthesize evidence on the preclinical efficacy of muscarinic receptor agonists and positive allosteric modulators in animal models of psychosis to provide unique insights and evidence-based information to guide drug development.

This in vivo mouse model study was conducted to investigate the temporal alteration of the function of CD36 in salivary secretion. CD36 was highly expressed in the parotid gland of BALB/c mice. No significant variations were shown in the CD36 levels in the 8-, 48-, and 72-week-old animals.
